Hey guys, I've got 25 points of Blindwater (My first army) and I'm finding that I either crush an army or they crush me with very few games being close. Usually when I loose (not always) I feel like I was doomed from the start because of high armor that I can't do much against or Inhospitable ground, etc. Any advice on what to do against bad matchups? And what armies do you guys think are the worst for Blindwater Congregation?
I only own Bloody Barnabus, Wrastler, Snapper, Full Posse, Wrong Eye/Snapjaw and don't wanna have to blow too much more money so what unit(s)/Beasts should I add?

Well, you're going to either want to run double wrastlers, or triple snappers or... it depends what you're going for really. Are you losing due to a lack of hitting hard enough or because your opponents are hitting you too hard or what?
Personally, I wouldn't be too upset of the win big/lose big thing... I either win or lose by the skin of my teeth all the time, its a frustrating feeling knowing that you lost a game because you failed to kill the enemy caster by 3 boxes, or because you couldn't get that last point of damage onto the jack blocking your LOS to a chunk of the opponents army before you popped your feat pSorscha) thus losing you the game... Basically it comes down to a few good/bad dice rolls making a difference rather than your own ability to play the game.

This will tend to happen early on when playing this game, especially against equally new players. Games will seem very lopsided due to someone making a critical mistake and being unable to recover.
Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot of variety in the Blindwater list.
I would reccomend another Wrastler(the mainstay in this army), a spitter, and a horror. And maybe another Snapper. Light warbeasts often find use in multiples.
Use the Wrastler's abilites to the full effect. There is no reason a charging wrastler shouldn't be able to fully trash any heavy it charges, Death Roll is amazing.
Charge, hit, knockdown, boosted damage, buy autohitting attacks till you only have 1 Fury left then stand him up with his Animus. Have a Snapper nearby if he didn't quite finish his victim off.

I thought Death Roll was a special attack and therefore can't be combined with a Charge.

It takes the place of regular initial attacks and most definitly can be used on the charge.
I can charge and use Thresher, which is the same type of attack as Death Roll.

Unfortunately, unless you go Rask--high armor issues is just a reality of the faction. Minions are likely the weakest army across the game right now---and I wouldn't count on a Wrastler taking anything out by himself unless you Fury it (Rask) or damage it before hand. Even then, he's pretty slow against WM...
What Gators are good at is eating casters--as many are living and that's when we start getting some bonuses. Maelok feat posse, tossing Snapjaw with a Wrastler, Barnabas feat + Posse/Spitter etc.---most times when I win with Gators that's where it happens.
Remember, if you decide to expand, your faction is "Minions"---which includes Carver and friends--which deal with armor just fine.
@Anung
You can use a *attack while charging if it is on a melee weapon or if its rule specifically allows it.

I usually get crushed by armies who not only hit me hard but prevent me from hitting them. Stuff like Retribution's Sentinels have carved me up, but that was before I added on the Posse. I got just completely Facerolled by Skorne on Sunday and couldn't get to him in anyway because of Inhospitable Ground.
I know one major factor that is going to keep me from being able to get real competitive is that I only want to use Gator models (this includes me converting some to fill other roles, though. Like I'm trying to figure out a way to have a Bull Snapper's body with tentacles added on for a Swamp Horror/etc) to the point that I'll go into 25 point games with 24 points because Swamp Gobbers aren't Gators haha
I'll definitely have to work harder on getting a Rask model, as I've heard a lot of great things about him.

Yeah, if you have those self-imposed restrictions you will find things a little tough to work around.
Keep playing games and learn how to work around those limitations is really all that can be done.

Hey Felix,
Well, definitely try proxying out some models before making any purchases---Swamp Horror's animus certainly helps expand the Wrastler's threat range.
If you do end up trying out Rask, definitely take a proxy Swamp Horror for a spin. A Swamp Horror with Fury is pretty frightening

Welcome to the Bayou!!
I've been running Barney for 6 weeks now in our extended League. I have the most wins out of everyone. One reason is because of power attacks, and the other is Barney's Feat. Learn your power attacks. The Flying Gator is very effective at getting at casters. When you have LOS to caster, use the spitter to throw your wrastler. Then activate Barney. Cast rise on Wrastler, pop feat. Activate Wrastler, Charge caster, get auto hits on caster since they are knocked down. Dead Caster.
Get the Ironback Spitter. The turtle is our only ranged beast. It enables The Flying Gator Missile. A 2nd Posse is great for higher point levels. Totem Hunter for annoying solos, or to harass units. Swamp Gobbers for their Smoke Cloud.
If you go Rask get some Bog Trog Ambushers for his Call to Sacrifice. The Horror goes best with Rask than with Barney.

This is minor, but Battle College says that Bloody Barnabus is tough, but I don't see it in his rules description. Is Battle College wrong or am I missing something?
