Some may know of my back story but quickly I was a Midshipman about to commission until my mother became 100% disabled in Afghanistan, now I am trying to become a full time police officer and get back into the Marines in an reserve officer slot.

I have done thousands of PFTs between my Midshipman career and my candidate career and I would like to try something new to improve my run time (I do run 4 miles every other day too). I would like to look into another pair of good running shoes for my PFTs in the future.

I am looking for a shoe that is light and provides comfort. Anyone have any suggestions for me?

Ever tried Asics? They've been working well for me.

Just curious, but what's your current PFT score?

Have you got a copy of the Ultimate 5k PDF? It's got a training schedule that seems to be pretty effective. You can find it here.

300, new-balance. If you want to PM me for training tips feel free. Are you maxed out on the other 2 sections?

I used to run remedial PT for a Bn. so I've got some experience raising PFT scores lol.

Yeh I max out on everything but the run.

I have a ton of work outs I do just mainly interested in a pair of great running shoes for the USMC PFT.

Not sure what town you are in, your location says NY... But, I'd look at finding a running shoe store. Not a Dick's Sporting Goods, or Sports Authority, Foot Locker or any of those, an actual honest to God running store.

The best ones will have a treadmill, or some sort of track to try shoes out on in store, and they'll have the training for gait analysis to provide you with not only the most comfortable pair of shoes, but the best for your feet shoes.

Each person's foot is different, so while Nike, or Canterbury of NZ may be the best shoes out there for me, they may be terrible for you.

Former USMC S-3 here,

I'd suggest new balance or like Ensis said a custom running shoe store.

I'd recommend also you look up the 10 week MARSOC prep work out program. If that doesn't get you running 18 or less then nothing will.

New Balance or Under Armor. If they are light and comfortable enough that a 40 year old (almost, anyway) fat body like me can run at all, then they may be the ticket for you. Of course, I usually prefer the cross-trainers to the running shoes due to having a lot of ankle issues, but even those feel pretty light and comfortable to me.

Bonecrusher 6, out.

Just contracted with a 283 pft using Niki Air Rail Pegasus .... Idk if ill get selected with that maybe my grades for my masters program will help me.

Maxed out everything except the run... I am a little disappointed in myself regarding my run time. Ill message back on my next pft. I'm going to run it with the T7 next.

283 + solid grades in a Master's degree should put you in solid competition.
