Got into this game a few months ago, very addicting, wondering if any other Dakkadakka users are playing.

Fair number of people here have played the game. Not sure how many do at the moment. I haven't touched it for quite some time myself.

It's the kind of game I get into, play a couple games, realize how terrible public matches are, rage, then quit for a few months. Rinse and repeat.

Can definitely say that if you truly want to enjoy the game, advancing past Tier V really isn't very worthwhile. Not last I played anywho.

Amen. It gets to be a real slog, especially if you want to do it with spending the least amount of money.

I still get a kick out of running around in my Hetzer, tho.

I have been playing since beta, its not something that I play all the time, usually I will play for a couple of months at a time and then go back when a new patch is out.

If you do go past tier V I would advise playing artillery. For other tanks up until tier VII is fine but Tier VIII is the really nasty tier, it takes AGEs to gain enough exp to unlock modules that are actually useful and you will lose money in nearly every match. I played a game the other day with my KV-4 (tier VIII), I got a top gun medal (i.e I killed 6 out of 15 enemies) and we won yet I only made 3k credits after repair and ammo costs. If you stick to tier IV-VI you won't have any of those issues and the game is probably at its best then.

The player base is full of little children though, at least they sound it, with lots of childish name calling and raging.

The Hetzer is indeed amazing, not quite as good as the KV-2 though.

I still play on a somewhat regular basis. The game has some glaring balance issues with tier 10 matches being arty parties, and tier 5 being derp madness, but its still enjoyable to shoot reds for a few matches.

I've been slowly chipping away at 60% win rate, but its painful when its 75%+ solo games.

Overall, fun game, but between arty and premium 105/122 howitzers with HEAT shells, the game only shines at tiers 6-8. If arty got reworked, and 105 HEAT rounds got some kind of significant nerf, I'd get back into the game a lot more.

That being said, I go by the same name in game. If you're ever looking to platoon, don't ever hesitate. My clan has TS that I could get you on too to chat. I have a tank for every tier...except T9.

My win % is 52 but I don't care. I play pub games exclusively and they make win percentages meaningless. I had one game a couple of weeks ago where I got 7 kills and we still lost.

Have you tried to play arty? It has, or it can, have very high alpha damage but actually landing a direct hit is far from easy and arty has some significant drawbacks. Good arty players can do a lot of damage but most people aren't good arty players.

I can't say that I have ever really noticed anyone using HEAT ammo on me and I personally don't use it as HE does a lot more damage for a lot less credits.

i still play world of tanks, some weeks more than others.

sure pub teams suck but that makes it really fun when you make 3k exp in a T29 (i honestly thought i was in my T34).

i really don't have a problem earning exp in tanks my T29 has nearly 70k undistributed exp on it and my KV-2 has about 90k on it from before the split.

sure grinding exp on some tanks sucks ( i am looking at you mr JagdpzIV who needs 60k exp for the jagdpanther) but i have actually learned how to play that tank better and it has helped me play my TDs better.

Arty is a crapshoot, i play my grille and 50% of the time i miss even with good crew. once you play arty for a bit you will learn to not stand still for long periods in the open, to shoot move shoot and where to hide from arty.

i enjoy playing my Is-8 but i have not taken my IS-4 into a random game yet, i hear too many bad things about it and i would rather have a teir 10 med or td.

I got in mainly for the historical aspect of the game - was really interested in getting to play the M4 Sherman.

Now I've got a Tier VII American T20, Tier V Russian T-34, and Tier III American M3 Stuart for funsies in my garage.

Yes, it plays very much like a standard FPS game at a very basic level, basically the WASD keys control movement and the mouse controls the turret. It is a lot more tactical than most FPS games though due to realistic(ish) armour penetration, armour facing, cover use, speed, weakspots and a whole host of factors.

What really makes the game though is the spotting mechanics, quite simply you need to be seen to be shot at and once one tank can see you most of the team can also see you which quickly means your death if you aren't careful. The spotting mechanics are quite complex but basically if you move or shoot (or sit in the open) you are easy to see if there is a spotter in range, some tanks are naturally easier to see while some tanks can spot better. This creates an interesting dynamic, if you are too rash you will be easily destroyed but if you camp you will simply get flanked or spotted by a light tank and artillery will get you.

You have spent a lot of money on this game Tazz.. I have(or had) a grand total of 3 premium vehicles; the T1E6 (which I sold), a tetrarch (pretty useless and I will probably sell it) and the beta tester sherman (distinctly average for a tier V but its quite fun to drive). I was wondering why I am seeing a lot less Type 59s these days, now I know why.

Yeah I have spent a fair bit on this game :S But how I make it seem reasonable to myself is: I dont pay for Ebox live or anything with a monthly fee so I can drop money on this game since I severely enjoy it as a time sink and a place to goof about with my buddies to see what shenanigans we can pull off with the physics engine. And heck its the only game that me and my 8 gamer buddies all play (dont have an Xbox so I cant do anything with my friends that do and the only game I have on the PS3 thats multilayer is Army of Two the 40th eh)

No although some tanks do cost real money, often a lot of money (some cost about £30 IIRC) but the majority cost nothing but time. The 'premium' tanks can be slightly OP (KV-5 and Type 59 are the 2 most obvious)but even then they are still beatable so its not like they are pay to win and most premium tanks are distinctly average.

Ya, like every nation has like 6-8 premium tanks that cost real money but every other tank uses the in game currency. (nearly 50 give or take non-premi tanks per nation)

The game is free otherwise. I own one premi and while yes is expensive, Ive spent less money on this game than most other games (Ive spent like $45 on this game)

I love my premium tanks but the most fun that I have is in my light french tank AMX 13 90. The whole reason why I went the french light line was for the Bat Chattion, I tried that thing during an open beta and fell in love with it.

Got into it about 2 weeks ago. Only playing brit tanks, got the Tier 5 light (crusader) and Tier 5 TD (AT2), though i have enough exp to get the tier 6 TD, just not the money after just buying that crusader yesterday.

I do have the AT15A for farming purposes though, had a game yesterday, 3k exp and 38k credits, without first win bonus.

Anyone else here delving into the brit TD's? I love the AT2, it's gun isn't the best, though it's pretty accurate and has a great fire rate. The best thing though is bouncing tier 6 and 7 shots on your front. Those things do not die.

I've heard mostly positive things about the brit TDs. I'm personally not a TD fan (except the SU-122-44, which is a monster), and I also really dislike slow tanks, so they don't appeal to me. They are, however, well armoured and end up having pretty decent firepower.

Some people think the AT-2 is overpowered, but it has some glaring weak spots that are easily penned. Overall, seems like a pretty decent line with effective armour and high ROF guns, but with little mobility. Basically like a bunch of baby T95s.

I did grind up the Brit med line some. Skipped to the Cromwell, which was a blast, and skipped the Comet from my experience on the test server, but the Centurion I is awesome.

Rumours have it that the brits will have a T8 premium med coming in the not so distant future, so fingers are crossed for what that'll hold.

I admit to being an Arty fan. Currently working on getting the M7. Going to look into some of the other countries SPGs after that.
My T57 has garnered me a reputation.. and a few enemies. I have had people actively hunt that tank, even posting their intent.

Same name as here, I am on mostly in the mornings (local US Central.) to unwind after work.

Of all the races of the universe the Squats have the longest memories and the shortest tempers. They are uncouth, unpredictably violent, and frequently drunk. Overall, I'm glad they're on our side!

i will eventually be going down the brit TD line as i want that teir x killing machine, currently i am working down the med and heavy lines.

i enjoy playing all of the different tank types, probably light the least bue i have had some crazy good games in my ELC.

Brit TD's are like fighting a KV-5 or any of the US heavies, you aim for the commanders hatch or any large dome area and get easy pens.

i had a 3k exp game in my T29 when i thought i was playing my T34, it is also pretty easy to make over 100k credits with the T34.

Played this since the beta and went the German tree route. Got all the way to a King Tiger and Jagdpanzer on the TD list. When the game went live and the accounts where reset went back to the German Tree put went for the Panther route instead which I have always regretted now since my Tier 9 Panther 2 still feels underpowered to even lesser heavy tanks. Have enjoyed playing the American TD tree with the M18 being my favorite just ahead of the M36. Still get in a game or two every once in a while.
