Reading some of the books and other canon sources, the GRIMDARK SCARY EVIL FUTURE, sure does include a helluva lot of singing in combat and the such. They never give us the words though . Has anyone ever written their own battle songs for their armies or am I gonna be stuck singing the Skyrim Theme to my Space Wolves?
Nope, although there's a copy of the Fede Imperialis floating around the 'net somewhere, I think.
On the note of Imperial hymns and the like, though, I find that I tend to imagine them being sung in something that sounds like Kajiuran (such as Mezame or Credens Justitian).

You know, something that even REMOTELY fits the setting. Of course it would vary world to world heck even regiment to regiment in the case of the IG. Lord knows with the Adeptus Astartes.

Oh, ignore the anime part. I haven't even watched Mai Hime, they were just the first two songs written in kajiuran I found because I was rushed for time. Does the language itself not sound like the kind of mutant latin you might expect from High Gothic?

A: It sounded NOTHING like latin to me.
B: The VAST majority of the imperium don't even speak High Gothic. High Gothic is represented by Latin. We have no idea what it actually sounds like.
In the spirit of the game being so grimdark and gothic, I imagine that almost all the hymms are more akin to Gregorian chants with elements of techo or other synthesized sounds.
Sort of like E Nomine with their song Vater Unser.... gotta be the most "Imperial" version of the Lord's Prayer I've ever heard. It definitely fits the setting.
But I also sort of think the Imperium would favor deep, guttural and mechanical sounds over more traditional music... Sort of like the sounds that the large terminator machines make in Terminator Salvation.
I've actually thought about this a lot lately since I have two squads of assault marines in my DA army. Read the lore in the DA codex about them, they are famed for singing and chanting as they hack their enemies to bits. It's got to be quite unnerving.

I suggest another track from the soundtrack of Skyrim.
This beauty, acutually:
This is how I feel about you I freaking love Sovngarde and it does sorta fit the Space Wolves giant chanting at their feasts. Plus the lyrics are SLIGHTLY different than the main theme (what with the whole morokai section) and it's a better choral piece.
All men of the glorious Imperium march forward to one song from ancient terra!

It actually does doesn't I was just giving me you hell. Honestly the song you posted would go fantastic with the praetorian guard or whatever their name is. The ones in British empire outfits.
