I was wondering if you can put a Tervigon with iron arm in front of his squad of gaunts and get him up to toughness 8. Then when people shoot the squad with strength 4 weapons they cant kill anyone so the squad is more or less invincible to small arms fire. Is this correct to use the toughness of the closest model (Tervigon) because that`s the one being hit. Or does there strength go against the average toughness of 3 which would completely nurf the tervigon.

Screw a Hell Pit, or Warp Lightening Cannon or Doom Rockets, even The Dreaded 13th. All pale in comparison to the ability to place a forest.

Tervigon can't join the squad of Gaunts so your opponent would get to choose to shoot just the Gaunts.

The Tervigon can't join a unit of gants. They're two separate units.

Tervigons are not independent characters so cannot attach to gaunt squads. So you could just shoot the gaunts.

Tervigons are not ICs and thus cannot join other units. In a unit of mixed Toughness...see page 14 under Multiple Toughness Values.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

The only ICs in the Nid codex IIRC are Warrior Primes. Nobody else can join units(tyrants have a special thing with Tyrant Guard of course, but thats not IC)

Parasite of Mortrex is also an IC.

Parasite of Mortrex...but I don't know anyone who actually uses him.

Yeah, that guy.

And even if an Iron Armed up character had joined the Gants. you would use majority toughness. Not the highest toughness.

....unless there was only one gaunt, in which case there is no majority so you DO use the highest.

Just to point out there tends to be exceptions in 40k
