Working on a 3000pt list (again), and I'm curious as to how necessary a BSB is in a WoC army this size.

Also, should I take a warshrine as a mount for my lvl 4 sorcerer? I'm already taking a warshrine as is, so using it as a mount would save me the 30pts of the disc that the sorc is currently on. Thanks guys!

Why discard the disc? It gives you a higher movement and +1 armor save along with its own attacks.

I'd always take a BSB. Re-rolling LD tests can make or break your game.

You're right--- I'll be keeping the disc on the sorcerer.

What about mounting the BSB on a warshrine? I don't really want him in combat anyway unless necessary, and the 18" range should help.

If you're going to take a warshrine, it's not a bad choice for a BSB mount, as it does generally mean he'll be out of combat and on a larger base size.

The warshrine is not a Large Target, and even if it were Hold Your Ground! doesn't go to 18" if it's a Large Target or on a Large Target. It's always 12", unlike Inspiring Presence.

That's very interesting--I certainly hadn't thought of the Warshrine as a mount for the BSB. That said, I do think that having a BSB is pretty critical, especially if you have a large-ish block of either Marauders or Warriors that you don't want to turn tail and run when you inevitably (if you're like me) "roll 6s when you need 1's and 1's when you need 6's."

What are your thoughts about any of the new WOC Magic Standards? The old Blasted Standard was one of my favorites (not in the situation you're talking about, but for Knights or Chosen), but most of the new ones seem...less useful.

5000 pts High Elves 4000 pts, Warriors of Chaos 4000 pts, Dwarfs 3000 pts, Wood Elves and Greenskins too

Ehhh, its usually a bad idea to have your BSB or your General on a mount that can get shot out from under him by a cannon, or even regular shooting.

Its putting a lot of points out there for an easy grab.

The only single characters I'd ever run would be on a Daemonic Mount of some sort with the 3+ ward and the Third Eye. 3+ ward that rerolls 1s laughes at cannons.

I agree with the templar, on a warshrine your bsb is a sitting duck (and similar to the coven throne he doesn't benefit from its ward save)

Incorrect. BRB p.72.

Both Insipiring Presence and Hold your Ground! profit from the Large Target rule.

My apologies. You'd think they would have put something about that in the Hold Your Ground! rule like they did for Inspiring Presence (which is where I was looking). Stupid GW.

To be honest, I just finished reading through the entire rulebook again and this suddenly came to my attention

I re-read a section almost every day, it seems like, and I still miss everything. Maybe I should try reading the FAQ a few times.
