Hey so just joined here...was wondering if theres anyone up for a wee game of 40k...i've just recently moved to belfast so dont know anyone else here who plays...i know of a couple of clubs but they seem to meet mostly on weekends which clashes with work for me. also i havent played 6th ed yet so i would like to get a few games in and learn the rules before just turning up at a club. i know theres gw store in castlecourt but its mostly full of teenagers, and not that im agest or anything but ideally id like to play with some people Roind my own age (29). Ive been working on a tyranid army atm but my brother has a necron and dark angels armies but hea just tool a job overseas for two years so i could "borrow" them im sure too. i couldalso be convinced to havea game of fantasy or mordheim if anyone still plays that.

Hey, am a committee member from Lisburn gaming club. And have you been to Lisburn gaming club yet? My name is Nathan.

We are currently the biggest club in Northern Ireland . We play everything.

We have an older tribe up here if that's what your looking for

Check out our Forums and get down for a few games.

As you have Mentioned we operate on the weekends so that might be an issue.

Also there's a few of us who travel to other peeps houses now and again for 40k and RPGs etc.

There are a large number of gaming clubs across northern Ireland as Pyreguard already mentioned Lisburn Gaming club is one of the biggest.

I don't know what the 40k scene is like but you should also check out QUB dragonslayers. They are the gaming society for Queens University and are responsible for putting together the largest gaming and Anime convention in Northern Ireland every year Q-con. http://www.q-con.org.uk/ There will be a 2 day tournament on the Saturday and Sunday of Q-con (29th and 30th) so I would recomend you book them off if you can ,even if you don't play it's a great way to meet people from all over.

If you're willing to travel there is a new Gaming centre opening in Newtownards called the North Down War Gaming centre. It's grand opening is April 13th and will be open 7 days a week with tables available for pre-book or simply turn up and play if tables are free. Their website currently has little to no information as they're still getting all that sorted http://northdownwargamingcentre.co.uk/

Slightly further out we have Escape Gaming club in Bangor. This club is owned by Gareth Richardson, owner or Replay Games http://www.replaygameshop.com/ in high Street Bangor and is run by himself and a committee of members including myself. We run on a wednesday evening from 7.30 - 11.00 and Saturday from 11.00 - 5.00. We're also starting to get into running regular 1 day tournaments with occasional 2 days once we get the hang of things https://www.facebook.com/events/126224324229860/

Also in Bangor we have the north Down Gaming hub run by Tom O reilly and Andrew Johnston. They don't meet on a regular basis from what I can tell but they do run semi regular tournaments and Events on Sundays. Their facebook group can be found here https://www.facebook.com/groups/286981511386404/ and has members from all over the North.

If you're willing to travel to the Distant north we also have Hangar 18 Wargaming in Londonderry https://www.facebook.com/groups/303372876413319/ These guys are affiliaites of CORE the university of Ulster, Magee Games and Anime Society. They mostly run on Saturdays and whenever CORE runs one of it's mini-cons ENCORE they will show up in support and run the wargaming side of things be it Malifaux, Warmachine, Flames of War or whatever.

I know I'm missing a few groups out (Yes there are more) but these are the ones I'm most familiar with through either being a member or simply having met a few of their members at events and such. The one thing you will not lack for in this country is a place to waragame

P.S. I haven't been to the GW in castlecourt for a while but Cathy one of the staff occasionally shows up at our Wednesday nights and will no doubt be more than willing to point out any groups I have missed and when/where they meet.

P.P.S If anyone knows....what happened to the northern wasters or were they just folded into lisburn and other groups?

Thanks man, thats great...working weekends is a real bummer...very few people are free on week day afternoons for a game! I might try to call down to replay this week...that sounds promising...i think wed nights should be do-able! Do you guys just do 40k...i could be tempted by a wee bit of fantasy too...i actually came across my old mordhiem rule book the other day and would love to give that a go again

It's mostly 40k with some warmachine, we have a few guys who play malifaux as well. Fantasy is an odd beast, there are plenty of people who have armies but no one plays fantasy on a regular basis, personally I'd love to play it again.

As for whats played when it really just depends on who turns up although setting up a facebook group for arranging things in advance probably should have been done ages ago.

In terms of Dragonslayers they have regular gaming Tuesday nights from 7 with a small group of regulars though from my experience in the last year it seems like Infinity is really taking off in place of 40k. They have a gaming day on a Saturday morning too but I'm not sure how many tabletop guys go. It's usually in the Space, the upstairs room of the QUB Union.

Nerdtopia on Stranmillis seem to have a group getting together on Sundays. It's a pretty cool coffee shop with tables in the back, I haven't gamed there but its got a great atmosphere!

Just to hijack the thread a little if no one minds, Ive just moved recently from Belfast down to Newry as Uni was finishing up. now that Creative Destruction has closed does anyone know of any groups in my neck of the woods? Ive been in touch with the JDAM guys but preferably a club with weekly nights would be great!
