I play Skaven, and as a Skaven player i have a lot of slaves. Aside from this pretty obvious fact i currently have 40 slaves sitting on my painting desk and i was only able to get 10 of them half-way done before simply losing the will to paint any more rats. I then took a brief hiatus into Warmachine and Hordes, bought and painted about 200 points of Legion of Everblight, and now I have returned to fantasy, but i still find my self not wanting to paint my beloved rats. Now I have an idea, my Skaven army has always been fluffed as an army of exiles, a warlord was given a suicide mission to attack a small dwarf hold, but by some luck and trickery he won, and the council of 13 was so mad at his survival, that they banished him forever and declared him a traitor by defying the Great Horned ones will, for him to die. So now he and his "faithful" Grey Seer, find themselves cut off, with nothing but a very defensible formerly Dwarf hold, and a steady stream of all the traitors and sell-swords that they can buy.

The point of all this wasn't simply to share a bit of the setting my friends and i play our Warhammer games in, but it was to ask for some advice. I was considering adding in models from other armies into my Skaven, simple examples, add some Plaguebearers into my plague monks, night goblins and chaos warhounds can be added into my slave blocks for some spice, and i was thinking of t=hunting down my HPA bits to convert up a Giant. I wanted to know what models can i add and to what units, i have very little conversion experience, but I will try just about anything, after all how else does one improve? I know i want mangle Squigs to be SOMETHING, the model is simply too great, i was feeling making another warp lightning cannon, but form what i have no clue, maybe some Empire Free Company Clanrats, with a Hellblaster "Weapon team", any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated greatly.

Silacier & Rozgarth: Hey you should start playing warmahords with us.
Me: OK (sets down Tyranid, drives to store and picks up Legion of Everblight)
Me: the more things change....

Probably should be in WHFB General instead, but my 2 tokens:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with non-skaven models in slave units. Skaven can and do seize enemies as slaves all the time; said slaves usually have the shortest and most brutal life even for skaven slaves.

I can see no reason why plaguebearers in plaguemonks wouldn't work, although I do believe that they are on different base sizes so keep that in mind.

Your other option is "unit fillers". Models on multiple or larger bases, usually depicting a scene or diorama fitting with the unit. For instance, one sample skaven army that was on GW's site for awhile had a unit filler for slaves wherein a human slave was being murdered by his 'compatriots'.

As usual, "Rule of Cool" prevails: the cooler something looks, the less people will likely complain about it.

My advice on the situation:

If you're going to include non-skaven models, make sure you're matching base sizes. Chaos Warhounds are on cavalry bases (25mm x 50mm) and won't fit into a block of skaven (20mm bases).

Do something to the non-skaven models to make them look like they belong, not like you just happened to have extra models laying around. Look up some green stuff tutorials as you can do many things very, very easily like adding putting cloth rags on naked things, chains, etc.

Relating to unit fillers, I've seen some that weren't necessarily multiple the same number of models on the large base (like 4 slaves on a 40mm base), but were still something related (like a big treasure chest with a dwarf standing on it in a unit of longbeards). You could similarly use extra bits + greenstuff to make a skaven standing on a big chunk of warpstone (or maybe on a boulder rolling it down the battlefield) on a 40mm base.

Dark Eldar could potentially enslave the galaxy.
Necrons could potentially destroy everything.
Chaos could potentially slaughter everyone.
Tyranids could potentially eat everyone.

Tau could potentially raise prices on import good from the Eastern Fringe.
