It's actually pretty damn good! I was a big fan of their much dinkier Predators game so I am loving this one.

AvPGalaxy did a great review here: http://www.avpgalaxy.net/games/avp-evolution/alien-vs-predator-evolution-review/

Just got an update yesterday addressing some of the issues brought up in the review: http://www.avpgalaxy.net/2013/03/18/alien-vs-predator-evolution-update-released/

It looks fine enough. Nothing too groundbreaking, but nothing terribly bad. I think the term "super predator" is pretty damn stupid though. I hope it's a solid game, the series needs one.

I don't think this game coined that term.

Maybe they did, maybe they did not--but "Super Predator" sounds like someone that Chris Hansen would be after.

Whatever happened to the "Predaliens"?

There was a predalien in the 2010 game.

I know. I should have been more clear:

Why did they not run with something like that?

I guess the concept is not really associated with success. Personally, it's kind of the straw that breaks the camel's back for me. I'm up for adaptive procreation in the xenomorph lifestyle but the whole idea of bull aliens, snake aliens, and predaliens -- this one-for-one kind of pairing -- waters down the franchise for the sake of licensing.

I thought the Predalien was a cool concept, personally.

The name was bad, but it's not like the Predators have an immunity to Face Huggers or anything right?

I'm not saying that predators cannot be "impregnated" by xenomorphs. I'm saying the idea of making the result look so different from the xenomorph strikes me as cheesy in the wargaming sense: the cynical, WAAC (or in this case $$$ at any cost) mentality.

Oh come on, they were the coolest action figures back in the day!

Yeah, I had them. They just don't appeal as much now.

It's a shame mobile games don't get more coverage. This one is really nice graphics-wise and the play is pretty satisfying considering the interface. Maybe what holds these games back is that they are designed to transparently tie into a pay-to-win series of microtransactions. In this game, you get honor or xenos points for getting through the levels with style -- varied take downs, low mission times, etc. You spend those points on a nice variety of upgrades to your character.

Or you can just spend real money. Ugh.

They also have a reputation as spin offs/tie ins, rather than being games unto themselves. Not that they all are but I think that perception floats around.
