I wanted to use a dread mob list in a tournament but the rules state that you cant use forgeworld army lists so I made this one from codex Orks that is close to a dread mob list. Some feedback would be appreciated and anything I should consider changing as I am quite new to writing ork lists.

HQ
Big Mek with eavy armour 40pts

TROOPS
Deff Dread with dreadnought close combat weapon and big shoota 95pts
15 gretchin and a runtherd 55pts
15 gretchin and a runtherd 55pts

HEAVY SUPPORT
Deff Dread with dreadnought close combat weapon amd a rokkit launcha 100pts
3 killa kans with big shootas 120pts
3 killa kans with grotzookas 135pts

This all adds up to exactly 600pts and my idea was that the gretchin sit on objectives while the kill kans and deff dreads disrupt the enemy and hopefully slaughter them.

If this is the FW rules, where is your Spanner boys? I do believe they are 1+ unit. If that is the case your list is illegal.

Interesting list. A lot of vehicles to deal with on a 600 pt limit, but a risky army to use. I mean, this army will probably do quite well at this point limit, but it will not be a good competitive basis for larger games (if FW isn't allowed). Orks excel in lower point limits in every way, and personally I've had a lot of success with a green tide list at this level, basically spamming 60+ Boyz and a minimal unit of Grots for the home objective with a KFF Mek to lead the army. This kind of army is a much better starting point for expansion IMO, but I respect your desire to play a Dreadmob list.

So let's get to your list; I would swap the big shoota and rokkit launcha on the Dreads for skorchas. Their BS sucks, so might as well go for auto-hits. Actually, it might be better to give two skorchas to both Dreads-I really don't think you need that many S10 attacks at this points level. If you don't like skorchas or fear being immobilized, big shootas are also fine. So far, if you follow my suggestions, you will have saved 25 pts. I can think of three ways to use these: to give the Mek some upgrades, get more Grots, or drop the 'Eavy armor and/or some Grots to get a KFF. Personally I would ramp up both units to 19 Grots each, with a Runtherd. More Wounds to chew through.

Just beware of mechanized armies whom you can't catch and who like to fire out of hatches (IG, SM) or the deck of a boat (DE). These will easily go around your lumbering Dreads and Kanz and kill your poor unprotected Grots, then try to hold a single objective (again capitalizing on your lack of mobility) to try and force a win.

Thanks for the feedback I have decided it does sound better to have two skorchas on each dread as their BS is quite bad and wih the spare points I put the grot squads up to 19 each which sounds better for holding objectives. After doing this im on 599 points so hopefully this list with the changes you said should perform better than my previous one.

More grots would be good, but if there's a concern about vehicles running circles around you then take some rokkits on the kans. Or if you've got the points, kustom mega blastas for their ap2.
