Subject: Starting a DA list, yet to buy the codex, abusing Darkshroud, power field gen. and standard of dev.

I've been reading through the 1d4chan article of 6th ed DA tactics and started to formulate my new DA list. I started off putting together a BA army although always have been tempted by DA since I first got into 40k around 10 years ago and thought I'd give them a whirl. As I don't have the codex yet I'm unsure of exact points cost and wanted this to be a discussion so I figured this belonged in tactics rather than army lists.
I was thinking about running a company command in razorback with standard of devestation and maybe storm shields or combat shields or an apothacary depending on however much they cost and what's most effective with a libby with divination attached. Alongside this would be another razorback with a tactical squad in with techmarine and power field generator and possibily a rhino or another razorback with a tactical squad in. I'd move these together in 3 (razorback with techmarine in the middle) to make the most of the buffs from the standard and power feild gen. although with a darkshroud right behind the techmarine razorback to give it an invulnerable save as to mitigate how fragile landspeeders are.
Oh and I've got 5 assault marines so I'd imagine I'd add another 5, give them flamers and use them as a tarpit, distraction or countercharge unit.
Can the techmarine buff the cover save from the darkshroud like they do with regular cover? If so then that's some pretty good saves and a whole load of dakka to drop off for a reasonable price. Dependent on however much this costs, I'd add a mortis dreadnought or forgeworld air defense platform thing or 2 for anti-flyer.

I think you might have a misunderstanding of the Techmarine cover buff. It is a buff to one ruin in your deployment zone for +1 cover. Bringing the total save to 3+ for the ruin being buffed. If you were to place a Darkshroud in such a way that it's field of effect was over the unit in this bolstered cover then they would have the Stealth USR which would bring the total cover save to 2+
The Techmarine doesn't buff any cover save, but instead one particular piece of ruins only in your deployment zone. Not sure if that's what you meant, but the way it came across made it seem like you weren't clear on that. I play DA (Ravenwing) myself and I will say that I have stopped using the Darkshroud and other things that force me into a playstyle. With the Darkshroud on the table you feel like you need to protect it but also keep your units near it. This leads me at least to a lack of flexibility that I don't like so I use the 80 points elsewhere for a force multiplier.

How about using the power field gen. with the darkshroud though? I thought that was a pretty nifty idea.
The point is, I'd be able to secure the middle ground and hold even if by transports get blown up and the ASMs could have flamers and PF combat squaded to harass big scary stuff before I reach center.
I want to stick with a solid Greenwing force other than the darkshroud and with to avoid using bikes and terminators. Other than RW and DW what else should I use to give me some flexability?
I was pondering adding the techmarine and command with bannder to a LRC since that'd be pretty brutal although far too costly for the small size of the list I'll be putting together...

DA Techmarine can boost ANY non-bought piece of cover, not just ruins (can't remember if they are limited to your deployment zone though)

By ignoring RW and DW you are removing two of the best bits of our codex. Though Greenwing is of course viable.
Dont put a Command Squad in a Razorback unless you have something with a PFG in there to give it a 4++. EIDT: Just saw your plans for this. Could work Ok.
My preferred use for the PFG is to give it to a Techmarine in a LRC, and fill it with 6 assault termies.
For Greenwing, make sure to take some Devastators with 4 Flakks. Put them behind an Aegis with the Serg on a Quad and laugh at any list with less than 3 fliers. Plus its some solid anti armour with 4 kraks and an Aegis for light vehicles.
Take Whirlwinds vs hordes. Ours our much cheaper than Vanilla's.
Another good tactic is a Command Squad with the Standard of Devastation, and a couple of full Tac Squads (all bolter) behind an Aegis, as far forward and central as you can comfortable put it. Thats around 100 bolter shots at 24". Keeps your centre clear of anything without an AV.
Not my style, but if I were to go all Green those would be some of my inital ideas.
Hope it helps.

I'm already intending to use the standard of devastation with tacticals, but I'm looking at a 750pt list, which is why as I mentioned I'm steering clear of big expensive stuff.
I want my list to focus around buffs and debuffs as that's what seems like the most fun bit of the new DA.
I'll keep the devs in mind, how much is the base cost of the squad? I heard heavy bolters are free too which sounds quite appealing...
How often do people bring fliers to 750pt or under games though?

From my experience, you only really start to see fliers at 1500+. Saying I did play a game a few weeks back against csm where he brought 2 helldrakes @ 1000pts...so you you never really can tell.
You'd be best off getting the codex and posting your list ideas rather than building blind.

I bring one Vendetta at 750pts. Fliers are common in my area.
I agree, get a codex before you start trying to make a list.
