I see Assassin's Creed 3 on sale in Origin, for 35 bucks instead of 50. Think that's worth it?
I kind of missed the hype and the release of it by a long shot, so I have no clue if it's considered good or lame.

It's pretty fun, especially he naval missions. Although the story won't make a whole lot of sense if you haven't played the other games in the series.

I ended up being quite dissapointed with this one but that's because I had very high expectations. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Assassin's Creed is a very enjoyable game. I think the second game was my favorite, building up the city was a lot of fun, but the third games naval battles were pretty great on their own.
I'm not sure how much you'd miss out on not having played the previous games, but it's still fun.

I would definately play almost all the other games first with the exception of Revelations before this one.
Agree that Naval Battles are the best part of 3.

I think AC3 is definitely worth the 35 dollar price tag. I had a lot of time put into mine, and I didn't do a whole lot of the side things (various missions, getting Ben Franklin's missing pages). My biggest complaint is the ending of the series, the credits, and that they basically killed rooftop running.

Because of the controls or the lack of rooftops?

There are plenty of rooftops, and the controls are awesome. Tree running is a good thing as well, but once you've got fast travel it's pointless since you no longer need to run through the Frontier (where most of the tree running is).
They've got so many guards on the roofs that rooftop running loses it's appeal because all the guards will investigate on sight as soon as they see you, so it's pretty easy to get shot. It's easier to run on the ground, and take the occasional shortcut through houses.

Ya, they made fast travel faster but I don't know if that's bad. Running through a forest loses its appeal after a while.

I know I liked fast travel lol but rooftop running was pointless...
Also the tunnel system made rooftop running pointless as well... if you were willing to deal with the tunnels lol I never bothered with them... I got seriously lost when I needed them during Sequence 12... I literally spent an hour running around the sewers because I didn't take a left at the beginning...

That sewer thing was so weird. I screwed myself with it because I didn't even know how they worked and had basically completed Boston before I clued in. I went back and did it figuring I'd get some kind of acheivement but no. So basically it was a big waste of time.
