I was playing a game the other day and we got into a situaton as follows: a necron warrior squad of 7 with an OL (not the warlord mind you) they got charged by termies and destroyed them to 2 warriors an the OL. I failed my moral check and they retreated, we rolled sweeping advances and I had lost again. I remember seeing somewhere that independent characters cannot be removed by sweeping advance (they are just considered locked in combat). I couldn't find it anywhere in the book. Any ideas guys?

Termies can't sweeping advance anyway.

The rule you're looking for doesn't exist, and Terminators can't sweeping advance.

1) Indeed, ICs have no inherent protection from sweeping advance
2) Terminators have a specific rule disallowing them from making sweeping advance rolls.

You may be thinking of the difference between Everliving and Resurrection Protocols. Check the wording of these in the Codex again, and bear in mind that an Everliving model or counter (from the IC) is no good for Resurrection Protocols.

You might have seen a report on a fight where an IC with Fearless or ATSKNF was on the losing side. Those can't be swept (the fearless never tested morale to start with ofc).

This^. Some IC wont be affected by sweeping advances. However not ALL ICs benefit from any such rule.
