I really don't know which one to choose and it's kind of a difficult choice and they're all kinds of spendy so...

P.S. this will be my first elite choice so choose well.

This is not a rules question.

1) Wrong Forum.

2) it depends on what you need, Need Anti-Tank? Fire Dragons, Need a tough Infantry unit, Wraithguard.

They all have their uses... so let's answer your question with a question.
What do you have in your army already? And are there any particular types of enemy unit you have trouble with so far?

I have the basic troop choices 1 dire avengers squad and 1 guardians squad with an autarch for an hq

And I'll mostly be facing imperial guard, black Templars, but mostly daemons (with one very nasty daemon prince)

You did put it in You Make Da Call, but that's the WRONG forum as this is discussing tactics not rules so the mods moved it over to tactics for ya

Anyway, any sort of armored army has a well earned fear and respect for Fire Dragons, so if you need Anti-Tank to fight the Guard you can find it there. I haven't seen much of the other elites used in my meta to be honest, although I know Wraithguard are a hardnut to crack

Fire Dragons give you the most bang for their buck and are tied for best save apart from Harlequins moving through cover, although flamers wreck them and they can deal with pretty much everything except Horde so yeah FD

Looks like I'm gonna end up choosing the fire dragons

Probably a good thing I need a fusion gun for my autarch any way

I personally would use Scorpions if all your doing is getting another elite unit. However, if you have a purpose for this elite unit, that affects your choice. Use Scorpions for melee, Fire Dragons for armor, Wraithguard for short-range anti infantry (though it works BRILLIANTLY well against armor as well) and Dire avengers with and Exarch with dual avenger catapults and Bladestorm to lay down 32 S4 AP5 shots.

I voted for fire dragons instead of wraith guard because 5/6 games are objective based, and I don't think wraith guard should ever be fielded as elites instead of troops.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Problem with Fire Dragons is getting them in range. They almost feel like a suicide unit because once they shoot, they are going to be obliterated. If they are out doing their job, they need a Wave Serpent or Falcon to get there. You do not want to be marching them across the board on foot, that is for sure.

I voted for the clowns. I think Wraithguard should only be used as troops, FDs need other stuff to make them work (vehicle or ADL+gun), Banshees are dead in 6th due to the PW nerf (who wants and elite that can only kill troops, sometimes?) and the overwatch rules... it comes down to Clowns and Scorpions as the best stand alone elite unit, and even the clowns need Fortune to really sing.

On a side note... ditch the Autarch for a Farseer and or Eldrad. I feel the superior HQ choices are Eldrad with book powers (using Fortune twice a turn) and then a Farseer with 4 rolls on the Divination list (he should cost about 185pts). You attach them both to your best unit (I prefer 10 man Wraithguard) and march them down your opponent's throat.

It's all very nice and dandy but the hard part is that at the rate I'm able to buy guy I just want the biggest bang for my buck
