Subject: Painting with your primary arm out of commission?

I have a few models that I started before I got hurt, I am left handed and that's the arm out of commission. So my question is has anyone got a way around this obstacle and still painted their best? It just really bothers me to leave them unfinished so any pointers would be helpful Automatically Appended Next Post: A Chimera unfinished is in my gallery but the XV-8 battle suit isnt posted yet

What I would do, given that I haven't ever had to deal with losing my primary arm, is that I would use my other arm. Instead of the normal 3 point contact, I would just put my entire arm on the table and VERY VERY slowly, paint that way. If you can still push things around with your left hand, you can keep your right hand entirely still and just move the model over the brush... but I dunno how well that would work, given I've never dealt with that. Heh. Hope I help a little.

First, try doing normal stuff with your right hand. Then try writing, and if you draw, move onto that. Just do a lot of exercises so it feels comfortable. If you can't paint, then dig through your bits and see if you can make something, whatever it may be. Then try painting. Might take a few days, but it'll be better if your half-finished model looks like you tried and not like you didn't care.

its just for a few months ligaments and tendon problems. thanks for the few tips, for now i am just a one handed man, probably buy those "helping hands" to hold the model, tried just base coating the combat drone didn't quite work lol or maybe some very delicate airbrushing. ill probably just be doing bits and the drones for a while like you suggested. though i think the helping hands is a must wanted some of those for a while anyways.

Michael Perry is one of the Perry twins, who have sculpted literally hundreds of figures for Games Workshop and other companies. Michael Perry lost his hand during a re-enactment ... I believe it got blown off by a cannon mishap. Needless to say, he's still sculpting ... quite amazing really.

Not just lost A hand. He lost his dominant hand and taught himself to sculpt with the "wrong" one afterwards.
