I play 2k regularly and my Eldar buddy runs a jet lock council deathstar with fortune and invisibility. I play mech guard. Without completely tailoring him is there a simple solution I'm just not thinking of to deal with this? Or is it just Rock Paper Scissors a hella annoying game for me.

Thx for any tips.

Valkyries? I don't think he'd be able to touch them, and they're damn good anyway. We certainly don't have any skyfire, our best solution is probably guided War Walkers, but I imagine he doesn't have many of them if he's running a Seer Council.

I think you mean Vendettas. Valks are pretty mediocre.

Personally, I'd take a small contingent of allies space wolves. Nullifying 50% of his powers when you're within 24" with a Rune Priest can really ruin an Eldar player's day.

What's your list look like?

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

Additionally, just tie up the council with bodies... with 2 farseers in the mix he won't have power weapons and at most 2 attacks each plus he shouldn't have hit and run unless he has allies. It is the bane of many a council that gets tarpitted by guard.

As an aside... another thing you can do is ally with GK and take one of their Stormravens... Councils HATE mindstrike missiles

Well, there ARE hard counters (look to GK rather than SW for allies), but if you don't want to do that, then you've really got only three options. The first is volume of fire. His saves may be rerollable, but that doesn't mean that he can't fail them. In the case of a mech list, perhaps consider a punisher or three.

Secondly, just handle it like any other super expensive deathstar unit - feed it inconsequential nonsense and relegate it to killing small units. Or just more or less ignore it.

Thirdly, invisibility gives shrouding. Shrouding is a cover save. Hellhounds, colossuses, eradicators and hellstrike missile vendettas all ignore cover saves. Better yet, bring a couple of deathstrikes to your next game and watch as a 160 point tank bags the lot of them in a single shot.

I would say a decent strategy would be to just go racks on racks of conscripts and fill the air with lasguns. The jetbike eldar as T4 are still going to die like any MEQ and the council can only be 10 warlocks and a farseer. Kill the farseer and the Ld drops quick. The power of numbers are on your side at that point.

"I have all the powers of Hell at my disposal. Who are you to question me?"

"You stand accused of violence against Iyanden. That your crime has not yet been committed is of no consequence. The sentence is oblivion."

As previously mentioned try out some SW allies. A rune priest can nullify and psychic power thats passed within 24 inches and thats on a 4+ which is really good. But its best to just get them with weight of fire if they have the reroll to saves.

Many lasguns and many bodies will do it. Shoot them up, tarpit them, and then play the objective while the council is hacking their way through guardsmen. It's the IG way.

30 man blob platoon. He wont get rid of them for a while, and when he charges you (make sure he does) you get 60 shots...hitting on 6's, but you'll hit at least a few times.
Once he charges you have 30 wounds to soak up his deathstar, so hopefully by the time he's killed (if he does) you should have weakened the rest of his army.

But I also second the triple punisher and/or vendetta ideas. Both will kill stuff...a lot of stuff

1 big squad of guardmen will just loose combat and get swept. Many small ones will soak up much more.

"Here, use your 500 point deathstar to kill this 50 point guard squad."

A blob squad with a commissar and sargeants challenging provides a substantial speedbump/tarpit.

Not if they are horribly annihilated by doomed shuriken/destructor fire before hand.

There's a lot that an eldar player can bring that can turn a 30-man blob squad into something much more managable by a jetlock unit.
