So, my first game with the new codex will be against an enemy i haven't played against since early 3rd ed.

I am fairly accomplished with Nurgle Daemons, though again, first time using them with the new rules-set. I've beaten Space Marines/Wolves, 'nids, Blood Angels, Tau--and even Grey Knights-- with my old list, and that was before i had pretty sweet Beasts of Nurgle, and viable fast attack Plague Drones, so i think i can quickly acclimate to the new 'dex.

Yet i know that DE emphasize speed, hard hitting units, and hit and run tactics. I believe my friend is playing a Haemonculis coven army, with plenty of Beast-masters and Razorwings. What wil his weaknesses be? What will i be able to take advantage of? What should i be on guard for?

Any tips, tricks, or warning would be greatly appreciated.

The 2 (or 1 depending on how you look at it) weaknesses that DE have is a lack of any real armor on infantry and, needing cover.

Maximize any of your abilities that Ignore Cover and, you will wipe whole squads per volley. I don't know quite how to deal with Raider spam though...

Eldar (Craftworld Sahal-Deran) 2500pts. 2000pts Fully Painted.

Dark Eldar (Kabal of the Slashed Eye) 2000pts. 1250pts Fully Painted.

It's rough....

cover, lots of it.

Use flying MC's to keep them honest.

Don't be afraid to charge if they come close to dig you out of cover.

They can't win if all the objective you place are in cover. (Make sure you have FNP or you are SCREEEWWWWED)

In your nightmares...

Nurgle will have a rough time against DE, because the only daemons I'm really frightened of are those that can shoot me and catch up to me. FMC aren't necessarily a good idea, because Venoms will shoot them out of the air turn 1. It's a slanted match-up, because poison negates Nurgle's high-toughness, which is their main selling point. All I can really think of is bring so many units they can't kill them all, a la green tide. Cover the board and limit movement.

2000 points. Win:23 Draw:3 Lost:3

Back after hiatus. I'll see you around!

The Dark Eldar are obviously a lot faster than you, mitigate this advantage of his by placing objectives as close to one another as you can.

One big unit of Plague Bearers with a Herald with the Book of 3++ and Feel no Pain.

3 Soul Grinders with Phlegm.

Keep your Great Unclean One in Reserve.

Just give cover to 3 nurgle soup grinders and you'll win, if you want it to be interesting I guess you could take FMC as poisoned will be the same for T5 as everything else, it's up to you

Not really.

I play both armies.

Soul grinders in cover is nice, but you have to bring some pretty huge cover to hide those things. They aren't small. Hiding them 360 degrees is going to be difficult.

DE specialise in speed and killing high armour or high toughness. They are also more than capable of deepstriking ravagers or scourges in behind your grinder in cover and melting it down or just zooming a raider full of haywyches or two at it and bending it over that way.

Getting cover Voidravens can't see over is a trick too

If i was to run Nurgle daemons vs DE i would lean more towards a bearer/nurgling horde. Sure they can shoot them down, but you can be in their faces pretty fast with nurgling infiltrate and daemony deepstrike goodness, despite the relative slowness of Nurgle.

DE don't like stuff close to them, barring a few units, and everything they have is made of paper (or cardboard for ravagers and Voidravens).

I'd leave the GUO at home, cool as he is. He's venombait.

I just see 3-4 blocks of 20 plague bearers, with heralds of FNP and I just wonder who has the fire power to deal with that. Especially if you go into cover. They may have the shots but if you get on the objectives.....they are never getting you off.

People who stopped buying GW but wont stop bitching about it are the vegans of warhammer

Soulgrinders with torrent-flamer, will ignore their fancy cover.

Otherwise, hordes and hordes will hurt them. How about big mob's of nurglings? Poisoned won't work much against toughness 3 with 4 wounds.

Just, give them more wounds than they can deal with.

Perhaps you could keep lots of units in reserv. DE seems to always be running or flying towards you. If you take that away from them they not only lack purpose and get confused, you also stop them from getting that precious early slaughter with following paintokens. Perhaps you could have some flying DP to try to wreck transports while your main force huddle in the warp.

Also, you got some sweet psychic abilities with good templates now. DE hate templates.
