Hi all.

So, for those of you who like to play a fluffy army, I have a fun tip. That it doesn't have to stop at a background!

What I have started doing recently, for my daemons, is documenting each tabletop battle I have, with a tiny "History-snippet" of my own daemonic force, along the same lines of those in each of the 3 new codex's

For example, I played a 1500 point game against dark angels last week, and wrote.

996999.M41 - Dark angels sent to respond to report's of unusual psyker activity, and on arrival, are beset upon by "The Daemonic Cavalcade", an unusually reoccurring group of daemons known to be invading the sector, under the lead of a keeper of secret's, styling itself as Kyzari, Thrall of Slaanesh.
Contact lost with the Dark angels within a few short hours, though comm's seemed to indicate the battle was close fought, and the dark angels managed to force the majority of the daemon's back, at the cost of their lives.
Recommended course of action? Exterminatus. All Imperial forces dead, corrupted, or maddened beyond help. Bring the emperor's mercy.

This little snippet details the event's of a battle in which I won, but only barely. Writing up a continous fluff, can serve to bring great stories, as you can have battles in which old scores are to be settled, and such, and you can write from either yours, or the enemy's perspective for the history snippets.

Fun times, takes about a minute, and will eventually lead to you having a great, long, history of your own chapter/group/army/warband/whatever.

A lot of people who play campaign-style (keeping the same ICs and effects to their army for a series of battles) do this sort of thing.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

I like that idea. I think it would be a great way to track your matches to see where improvements can be made and monitor as you grow as a player and tactician.

I'd love to play a campaign. Reading through the rules for 'In the Emperor's Name' with it's mention of them sounded really great.

That's part of the reason I loved Mordheim so much. Man I miss that game.

I started to collect an paint heads of armies I had won against and attach them to small chains hanging off vehicles that were in the battle. So when my land raider would be used in a battle against my brother's CSM, if I won, I would paint a CSM helmet his colors and hand it on the land raider. I have a small bits box with all kinds of heads from most of the armies, Just your generic troop head. I have a couple hanging from preds, a few from dreadnoughts, and bunch for my land raiders.

I usually come up with a story for each head I paint while I'm painting it, but very few do I write down or keep track of.

We often write down our battles. Writing fun little stories based on the battles is great. We often use the same fluff for the armies, letting the defeats essentially be akin of generals running away after being killed in Dynasty Warriors.

An idea for a campaign that we are trying locally, when you have a bucket full of old bits, keep a handful of them that you aren't going to use.

If you lose, your opponent gets to choose one of your spare bits to add to his "banner" or other unit designed to carry trophies.

You then have a physical representation of your conquests on a model.

Great advise, and incentive to keep some track of games played, and giving some love to such games too.

'ere we go!
