So if a model has 2 close combat weapons it gets an extra an extra attack in close combat. My question is if a unit starts with 2 close combat weapons and its profile says that unit has 2 attacks (ie. SM Vanguard) is that extra attack part of the 2nd attack in its profile, or does it now have 3 attacks?

Having 2 CCW grants an additional attack ON TOP OF the number of attacks listed on it's profile, unless the codex entry says otherwise. A Space Marine sergeant with 2 attacks on his profile and equipped with a BP and sword gets three attacks in assault.

3 attacks in close combat; 4 attacks in assault.

4 on the charge. Assault does not equal charging.

There are examples where models with more than one cc weapon have it in the profile already, but where it's the case it will explicitly say so. Only example I can think of right now though is a Furioso or Death Company Dreadnought from the Blood Angels codex, and even there it's in brackets.

The Deff Dredd is the exception to this. It comes standard with 2 DCCWs, but GW decided to FAQ them to only gain additional attacks from the 3rd and 4th DCCWs if you add them.

Tyranids are the only army where the extra attacks are built into the model's stat profile.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

Which raises an interesting point. Per page 33 of the Tyranid codex, Tyranids never get bonus Attacks for 2+ CCW, the bonuses are included in the profile. OK fair enough. However, a stock Hive Tyrant with no upgrades (so 3 CCW - LW/BS/ST) has the exact same number of attacks as a Hive Tyrant with 2 TL-deathspitters. So what happens to the bonus included in the profile?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Nothing, since the rules don't say to remove it.

You keep the attacks, clearly the Tyrant pimpslaps his enemies with the devourers.
