Hi i'm new to warhammer 40 k and i want to start a ig army small about 500 points heres a list i've made i'd just like some positive feedback thanks
Hq
Company command squad:
-sergant with plasma pistol
-medi pack
-veteran with regimental standard
-vox
-carapace armour
-heavy flamer
=150

Troops

1. Squad alpha
-Flamer
-vox
-heavy bolter team
=70

2.Squad charlie
-vox
-Heavy Bolter team
-Grenade launcher
=70

3. Squad Baxter
-vox
-heavy bolter team
-flamer
=70

Fast attack

1.Armoured Sentinel
-Heaavy Flamer
=60

2. Armoured sentinel
-missle launcher
-Hunter killer missle
-smoke launcher
=80

Total+500 points on the dot

You're not going to get much positive feedback, sorry. This is full of the worst choices in the entire codex.
You have quite literally no threat. The gun upgrades are weak, the sentinels are awful and the CCS is kitted out with a bunch of point sinks which don't help with survivability or damage enough to warrant their inclusion. Your list is also illegal. You don't even have a valid troops choice. I don't believe you actually read the codex entry for a platoon. For a single troops choice you either need:
a) A platoon, which consists of
1 Platoon Command Squad
2-6 Platoon Infantry Squads
0-3 HWS
0-2 SWS.

or

b) Veterens

A competitive 500pt list should look like this:

HQ) CCS Flamer x 4

Troops) Vets Melta x3
Vets Melta x3

HS) Demolisher

That leaves you with 65pts, and is significantly more threatening than you have. Those 65pts could be spent on a transport, plasma instead of flamers for the CCS or an ADL and still have points left over.

ps... hard to choose between manti and LR, both have their pro's con's... but considering the list I would aim for the LR and leave the manticore ofr bigger lists/ more experience...
PPS.. never go missile launchers.. I was a big fan and held onto them and defended their existence... then I spent the extra points on Lascanons/ saved some with Autocanons.. and never looked back.. go hard or guard home.. that's the IG way...

Also everybody hates grenade launchers... I´ve never played them myself but there should be a reason Str3 just doesnt cut it i guess.

U want ventreran squads and tanks, tanks are the main part of the imperial guard army. Also a few or chimaera are always a good to get vets or troops to the enemy or objective.

I find GL's work really well because I fight light vehicles a fair amount, S6 cracks a Raider and S3 means you get small blast Lasgun against weaker enemies.
Take the LR over the Manticore at this stage, need something to bulk you up, if you can't protect your Manticore you won't fire its 4 Missiles

I would ONLY take GL's in 500 point games. Only. Anything above that, and you are wasting points. There are just so many things that do that job better, and the only things that can take them are things that should be equipped with plasma/melta

One advise in guards , there ballistic skill is weak , they only hit 50% of the time with direct hits , so my advise is templates! Grenade Launchers are good , a single unit equipped with it can hit 5 time its number that if it was equipped with a standard Lasrifle , regarding HWS I would go for the Auto Cannons ,its cheap and it fires a lot , it will miss some times but it still hit enough times , IF you have he points to spare go for the Missile launchers , a bit more expensive and they can scatter but they ended up to hit and kill something . Regarding ground vehicles the LRBT with the battle cannon and a lascannon (the side weapons are good if they are multiple shots or template ) is a solid choice at any point level , 3 russes can cause a lot of problems to horde armies , even MEQ armies that lack cover !

You must either not know very much about guard or are trolling.... GL are terrible but permissible in low point games, autocannons are good but HWS are weak, Missile launchers are inbetween autocannons and lascannons and taking either of the other options is better, Due to loss of lumbering behemoth LRBT's with any sponson upgrade is wasting points but a clean LR is all right... if you can upgrade it to a demolisher (for heavy infantry) or a punisher( for light infantry) do so
