Does a character with a specific warlord trait listed in their profile still get it if they are not chosen as your warlord? for example if you take Skarbrand as an allied HQ does he get his warlord trait that makes all of his CC attacks have instant death?

Apply simple logic. Is he a warlord? Does the BRB have a HQ trait table?

These are troubling times.

i figured as much, the only thing that sparked the question is that it has one specifically listed in his entry, does that deny him the option of other warlord traits? where does it explain the rules surrounding special characters with specifically listed warlord traits?

If a character comes with a set trait then that character will only have that trait, it's spelled out in the brb in the text above the warlord tables.

Look at the warlord tables and the special character rules and that will answer your question fully.

Nother question on this matter that I have always been curious about..

If an HQ such as Abaddon, is used, and he comes with a Warlord Trait, can said warlord trait be swapped out for either or from the BRBs set / his codex? Or is he permanently stuck with the Warlord Trait he comes with?

Yes, as the codex subseeds the BRB abaddon is stuck with that trait
