I have had several heated discussions about whether or not the codex supersedes the rule book or not.

I would say that it should simply because of the fact that the rule book is just a general spin on all of the rules where as the codex goes and specifies specific rules on specific things
I want to know your opinions

(the main reason this argument sparked is the guardians for the eldar and their support weapon)

Thnx ahead of time enjoy explaining

Codex trumps Rulebook in the event of a conflict. FAQ's trump all.

Pg 7: Basic vs Advanced. You might want to start there. Read the whole section, but your answer is the last sentence on that page.

The argument is over the firing rules on the guardians support weapon in the codex and FAQ it states that either of the two crew can fire it from their position not just the one firing it 2" away from it from the barrel

Not seeing the problem here.

You check LOS from the eyeballs of the Heavy Weapons Crew; just pick one for the shot to come from. The FAQ is pretty cut and dried.
