Does the specific weapon he carries affect him

Considering he can have an axe a sword or a spear would the axe affect him like it would others with unwieldy

What do his rules say? What are the rules for the Wailing Doom?

The wailing doom is a weapon of immense power that may take the form of a vicious spear, a mighty sword or a many bladed axe. It can be used to project a nimbus of burning psychic energy using the following profile 12" s8 ap1 assault 1 melta

I would figure unwieldy wouldnt affect him because he is a monstrous creature if not maybe the fact he is a daemon might help

And for Close Combat?

There are no rules for using it in Close Combat, so there's no reason to think that Power Weapon rules would apply.

Not to mention the Avatar is a Monstrous Creature, which implies other rules regarding CC.

Avatar is a monstrous creature, so long story short he will always hit on initiative and ap2. You can make the weapona bow and arrow and model him shooting it.

Long story, wailing doom is not a close combat weapon, it is actually a ranged weapon with meltagun statline.

The way he ignored armor had come from being a MC as 5th and 6th.

The Wailing Doom is not a power weapon, so it has nothing to do with the variable weapon profiles power weapons can have. The text about "tak(ing) the form of" is just there to indicate that you can model it any way you like. The stock GW model has a sword, for example, but the snazzy Forgeworld model has a spear. The only weapon profile for The Wailing Doom is for shooting. For close combat, it actually has no profile at all, and instead the Avatar just fights like any other Monstrous Creature, using the Smash rule.

Well, there's no official model for it, but here's one someone made earlier!

Personally, I'd have cut the crossguard off as well, but you can't have everything. I'm afraid I don't know where the axe head itself comes from.

They're parts from the old Reaver Jetbikes.
