I had the idea the other day when i saw a few sikh heads on warlord games... Not sure if they would fit on imperial guard bodies, but the idea has stuck with me.
So I am curious if anyone has tried doing this before? And if not, what you all think i should use for my base models, interesting ways to make them stand out, and all that stuff.

Oh, and yes, I know that I am a cherry here, never posted, have been having a hard time gaming...

most others would have probably tried converting talarn guardsmen. I think you'd have the best odds of getting the right look by using bearded heads to begin with if you use GS, so space wolf heads might be up your alley... not sure of what's in the fantasy line...

Not sure which period of Indians you are looking to do, but there might be some options here as well...

Well, I was thinking of going with WW2 commonwealth indian forces, and was gonna try and use cadian bodies for the base, and buy heads from a different source... Maybe try and make talwars from Green stuff for the officers.

Well, major set back, all of my imperial guard models have suffered major damage over my last move... to add to that, i haven't had a chance to order the heads for the build.... so i am out of luck for the time being

I decided that for my Indian styled Imperial Guard will probably have a tiger stripe camo scheme, the problem is I don't know how to paint tiger stripes.

Hi don, i had the same idea a while back and bought a single sikh head sprue just to see what they'd look like.

Heres one on a GW Cadian, doesn't look too bad;

From the side the head looks in proportion but maybe the turban could be a little bigger? Heroic scale turbans! I'm not Sikh though so have zero knowledge of how they should look.

For my Sikh guys i'm planning to use torsos and rolled sleeves arms from Victoria Miniatures like this chap;

Hope this helps!

You know what boyo, that does look about as epic as i was hoping it would, i was also considering the vic. miniatures arms, but am still in the design phase. Is that head from warlord games or some other company?

Yep the head is from Warlord. You get 4 variants to a single sprue although one is NOT wearing a turban

As to these guys i'm still in the design stage myself, or the i'll-get-round-to-making-them-one-of-these-days stage!

I'll not be using the Cadian legs mind, i just don't think they go together, i'd rather have them wearing shorts and have heard rumours that this could soon be an option from third party bits makers so i'll wait some more.

If that doesn't materialize i'll just use one of Victoria's leg designs

I got to admit, Shorts would give them a more WWII Indian feel, and was considering doing them as well if i could find the right legs. I think for the turban either saffron or black would look coolest, and maybe do a kind of tan tiger stripe or use the British DPM style of camo in desert. It would go along with the general feel of the army i think. I am also considering using the DKOK as the officer Corps. for the regiment.

I also thinking of having my veterans use beret heads or maybe the chindit heads from warlord, go with a gurka feel to it. Also, since i was gonna build an ENTIRE regiment to these guys, i need to figure out my tanks and stuff.

Maybe have my tanks come from a completely different planet, and have them seconded to my regiment. As well as my artillery, go with the idea that this is a massive Expeditionary force or something
