ok im visiting my local gw tomorrow for a purchase and im struggling to find a reason not to go with the following.

furioso dread with frag cannon, hvy flamer and magna grapple in a drop pod with deathwind launcher.

Drop this directly on a unit turn 1. Not much luck is needed to place the pod next to a unit. Dread gets out and unleashes hell!!! deathwind large blast just adds to the mayhem!!

Am i missing something??

No, that's what I do People don't like the deathwind launcher, but I find that it makes the pod a legit target. It's not the best upgrade ever, but I have caused serious damage with it before. Especially since I drop sternguards often with the fragnought and have dual deathwind. People want to lock up the sternguard in HTH, so they need to get close. Is this foolproof? Absolutely not. Does it suck? I don't think so, but YMMV.

Sounds legit but I wouldn't bother with the grapple or the deathwind launcher.

Grapple will struggle to find a good target along side the frag cannon, while the deathwind launcher is just all kinds of meh for what, 20 points?

Turn those points over to taking 2 Fragnoughts in pods, then being to cackle maniacally when you face foot units >

The magna grapple serves to extend the wound range of the template weapons.

I agree the deathwind launcher is very iffy. It's really only worth it if you have the sternguards along side the dread. Then people might consider getting in range to assault the sternguards.

You can't fire the death wind the turn you land... You know that right?

I've never used a deathwind, but the rest of that load out is the best unit in my army in almost every game I play and is the primary advantage to BAs over other Marine codices at this point.

I'm running a Furioso with a Frag Cannon out of a drop pod for the following reason...IG blob squads that like to go to ground or Eldar/dark eldar invisibility shinanigans. Cover saves can't help ya vs. waves of fire.

6th Ed is all about cover saves, so units that ignore cover are key.

I only say magna grapple aswel because the group i play use alot of kans and war walkers, gives this unit a extra option just in case. Grapple, meltagun and rending template should make short work of them.

Actually i didnt know you couldnt use the deathwind the turn it drops. My group thought it was just ordanance weapons you couldnt. I shall get the person with the main book to look into that. Cheers for the heads up dude!!

It's to do with snap fire when moving at cruising speed... The death wind is a blast weapon and thus not eligible for snap fire
