greetings Dakka!

this year it seems, i've been in this mugs game for a mere 10 years and i'm in a bit of a dilema currently as to where to take my humble collections next.

here are the armies i currently roll with

IG: armoured battle group

Space wolves (technically the oldest one of the lot lol)

Grey Knights

Dark Eldar

Chaos space marines...

however recently i've been noticing that my wolves don't rub with me much anymore, the've gone a bit stale i'm afraid.

though if i want to change anything an army will have to go and i'm considering scrapping the Wolves...

so here are the opitions i've been considering

scrap the wolves and do a DA Deathwing army- always liked the look of these guys

scrap the wolves and jump on the Tau bandwagon (depends on wha the codex is like.)

stick with what i've got you silly sausge!

Wait for the Tau dex and see if it tickles your fancy. Regardless, it may be time to part ways with your Wolves, since you say they are too stale for you.

Personally I've never gotten rid of an army because I can always let somebody borrow it if necessary, and you never know...you might change your mind!

Tough choice. What is it about SW, and the others for that matter, that aren't keeping you interested? That may help identify a quality or qualities in another army that you'll really enjoy.

Maybe Orks or Tyranids? They've got a much different flavor from what you've got.

And...if you're looking to offload your SW, I know a guy...

I noticed there was no option to vote for Scrap the Wolves and go with the Tau and still call you a silly sausage so I'm writing in my vote you silly sausage!

if it weren't for the fact you already have 4 other armies, I would recommend playing tau. Simply because you already have SW, GK, and CSM, you've probably seen enough power armor. If you want to get something fresh that wont get stale quickly for you, try something truly different than what you have.

I'd recommend just focusing on your other armies until a new SW codex comes out, then maybe it will catch your fancy again. If you are really set on trying something new, don't let us stop you, but I recommend Tau for something actually fresh for you.

But hey I'm a decade long DA player myself, and I never got bored of my DW!

My two cents, YMMV

Stick with the army you have is my vote. I would try to add something new to it (perhaps even an allied detachment from a different codex) to keep it fresh.

not to pour cold water on that idea, but unfortuantley, in this case that is just as bad as starting another army

and i used to do orks a long time ago so i can't do them again...(that would be hypocritical...)

Tau are awesome. But if your gonna start a new army deathwing is fairly cheap and looks great on a table. Also I wouldn't get rid of your army you never no when you will want to play it again.

The answer seems quite simple really.
Do start another army if you want to stir things up, but do not sell your wolves if you do not have monetary issues.
Always better to have more options!

a few years ago that would have been the case

It might be a simple answer for many of you, and it is good that i'm getting the vibe that i should stick with what i've got. However i think i went a little over the top with power armour and am now suffering from it somewhat and my strategic eye is thinking that i made a few errors over the years (oh well hindsight is excelent but its ing useless at the time ) and i haven't got much space to store the stuff either so if i want a new army one has to go.

Though its also about the variety...

DA/Tau. DA put a fresh perspective on SW's (aren't they loyalist rivals?) and the Tau while have a new wave just released offer something fresh and challenging
