I play an IG mechanized regiment(I know, tanks aren't as good in 6th ) I was wondering if there's any good black library books that deal with mechanized units.

My former army was actually Tau and with their imminent release, has anyone heard of their new fluff or if the new black library books are any good?

If you're looking for IG books, Gaunt's Ghosts are arguably the best. Many would say the best books that Black Library has put out over all, but that's another discussion.

I for one, am also interested in any good Tau books out there. Can't say I've seen any myself.

If your looking for a book specifically about armoured units then Gunheads is a great read. Its about the Cadian 81st Armoured Division

The Ghosts are a light infantry regiment, they are rarely mechanised.

"Gunheads" is, I think, it for armor/mechanized units as the focus of the story.

Yeah, Tanith First are light infantry - stealth and scout specialists. Honour Guard has them effectively operate as a mechanised/motorised force, but that's it.

As for Gunheads, it's about the tanks and their crews, rather than mechanised infantry. It's still a good read, though.

As for a good Tau book, I'm yet to be convinced one has been written...

3 new Tau books have been released by BL in the last 2 months, undoubtedly because of the imminent Tau codex release:

-Shadowsun: A novella about Shadowsun that I've heard mixed review for
-Fire Caste: IG perspective about a guerrilla war against Tau occupation forces. Haven't heard any opinions on it
-Greater Good: Ciaphas Cain book.

OP: Only the book highlighted in green is actually about the Tau. Tau are setting elements in the other two. And it's not really a book. It's a 20USD hardcover and only has 128 pages. You have to order it directly from BL.

I suspected as much...

There is a 8-10 dollar ebook version of the Shadowsun though.
