Ok, first some background... I have played world eaters CSM for several years. When the first daemon codex came out I started a second army of khorne daemons. I now have a total of about 8000pts of pure khornate carnage. But with the release of the new daemon codex and my increasingly competitive nature im stuck in a pickle....

It has come to my attention that some units from the other gods are hands down better than those khorne has. Not all but some... an example is the nurgle daemon prince... give him the instant death balesword and he becomes a true monster compared to the khorne prince who requires 6s for instant death

There are tonnes of things, I could go on and on.....

My question is this. To use the above example.... would people be ok vsing a nurgle daemon prince that is painted red and gold and looks khorne style? To distingush him I would put a dead plague marine on his base... and a dead thousand son on my tzeench DPs base etc. Im niw wishing I had painted my stuff black legion but it is waaaaaaaaaaay too late for that

So are you asking if you can use a Bloodthirster for a "counts as" GUO?

Personally I wouldn't care much about how the model was painted regarding the WYSIWYG and Daemons of Whatever. The WYSIWYG factor for me is more the gear and weapons the model has, so if you had maybe just a little Nurgle Icon somewhere to remind me he was a DP of Nurgle that would suffice, Nurgle can be hateful and angry too.

However, if you are competitive and the tournament(s) in question have a theme score you may suffer a few points for that. If you can pull it off, a sort of Nurgle DP succumbing to the rage of Khorne to fit in with your other guys, then that would be pretty neat. Frankly I'd go the DP of Khorne though with a Greater Etherblade, then on the charge he'd be S8 for instakilling MEQs (at least most of them). Tis true, though, the Nurgles get a nice cover save along the way!
Just Grimoire them and you won't have to worry about the cover though

yeah, painting doesn't really fall into the purview of WYSIWYG, you can do whatever colour you want, but the models should very clearly indicate what they actually are.

Its not only DPs... things like plague bearers fill a gap in my army that is crucial but I cant bring myself to having a green puss ridden fatties. I was thinking of getting some old school bulky bloodletters and modeling them to be counts as.... but its all a bit iffy

WYSIWYG is more a convention than a hard and fast rule. The most important thing is that your opponent is not confused. That he can easily distinguish at a glance, for example, which unit is PBs and which is Bloodletters.

While most people will have no issue with you painting nurgle stuff as khorne, the blood god will not be pleased.
