Hey hey.

I've been looking in to something new and this looks quite good. I've been going over the videos here and the Infinity website but are there any other tips not covered there that would be useful?

I'm particularly interested in reading about the background. Where is the best place to look after the fluff videos on the website?

Cheers

The infinity wiki has limited background. Most of it is located i the three rule books

The infinity website (miniatures tab) has some fluff for the units - but not a whole lot of fluff for the game universe - as well.

If you have the money I'd suggest buying one or more of the books. Even if you don't take up Infinity! They are beautiful things to have on your book shelf. Packed with fluff, flavour and great art.

Ah cool, I'll look into a book after I get my hands on a few models.

As for the game any advice on starting up? I'm looking through the vids and downloads and it looks like a decent game. I've heard the starter packs are fine as a start point, anything else?

Which army in particular were you looking at?
Do you want to do a Sectorial army?

Some more details as to what you're looking at would be helpful.

Also, don't be discouraged by the broken language of the main rulebook. They hired better editors for the 2nd and third book.

Start small and maybe use the quickstart rules until you are confident of the basics.

Yep start small with a starter pack and expand from there. When you pick an army go purely off of looks. I know it sounds weird compared to most game, but it Infinity looks should be your first key on what to pick as your faction.

I'm not really sure what a sectorial army means. It seems like just a division of the larger army. As for army (or is faction a better term?) that is why I wanted to read about the background. The reason I like 40K so much is the rich back story. For anyone who started 20 odd years ago then reading the Horus Heresy novels is almost like reading history. Of on a tangent there. But yeah I'd like to know more about them but I've been looking at Yu Jing as the biker models look awesome, hope they hold up in the flesh.

I saw the quick start and that seem a good idea for getting the basic game mechanics to begin with.

I have been looking at the starter packs. It is a bit confusing when trying to decide what to buy for a starting list. I had a little play with the army builder on the website, but I need to do a bit more reading I think. Any tips would be great.

If you in particular like the biker models I would suggest goign with just a standard Yu Jing list. IMO Aragotos look even better in person then online, simply amazing models, though tough to assemble.

Sectorial armies as sub factions of the main armies. You lose access to a portion of the overall available models to say Yu Jing, but those you can take you get access to more of. You also gain access to linked teams which are a bit more advanced on rules so hold off on those.

I'd suggest this as a good start. Human sphere gives a solid background into the Infinity universe and has some of the best art out there.
