A while ago I picked up some Chaos Marines cheaply from a shop that was getting rid of their GW stock. I have Huron, a box of terminators and a box of Berzerkers.
I'm going to paint them up to use as a second army at home with some of my friends who are interested in learning the game, but I don't have much cash to spare on this project. I'll get either Kharn or a Terminator Lord with the mark of Khorne so I can use the Berzerkers as two units of troops. Can anyone recommend one or two other units that would help balance the forge out?
Obviously this army doesn't need to be super competitive, just fun to play, and will stand a chance against a small Grey Knight force.

With a little bit of work, i converted my Huron Into a Chaos lord with axe of blind fury. Its not too difficult, I just swapped the powerfist for a Plasma pistol, gave him a plastic backpack with a banner and I am planning on sculpting on a Hood made of leather.

In small games you could (as you said) use your huron as a khorne lord with Demon Weapon and zerks as troops. In larger games I think you'll find zerks don't have to same punch that they did in 5th being unable to charge out of rhinos. I would either commit to a hordish army of foot sloggers or accept that your zerks aren't going to be a significant part of your force in the future. They work on foot or in a LR but I don't think its the best use of pts or money. Either way, a nice addition might be a squad of oblits (can't go wrong with oblits, seriously, always good) or a defiler which is fun and crazy in small games but is also expensive in $ and pts. Again, all this depends on what kind of player you are and what you want to accomplish. To me it sounds like your just trying to make a chaos army work with the models you have in which case i might get the defiler to walk up the field with zerks and termies.

You could use rhino as mobile cover for zerks though. never need be in the rhino if so
