Of course this guy is very lack luster in many ways, being outshined by a regular overlord in everyway but one.
Denying kil the warlord!
With a small investment in maybe 2-3 crypteks or lords or even a small unit of lychguard this guy is damn near unkillable.
I have found in my regular all comers list that is already equipped with lance wielding crypteks, trazyn playsa very important role.
he babysits a unit of 3 spyders that advance down the field.
When he joins then he automatically becomes a damage shield, taking all the shots directed at the unit by standing in front, and with his now toughness 6 and 3 wounds,he is a tough nut.
His empathic obliterator allows the unit to deal with hordes and the spyders ap 2 attacks deal with heavy infantry, plus the built in MSS will punk characters.
Also the unit is scoring.
It has worked out very well for me so far, that and it fits with his fluff.

The fact that he's scoring and very hard to kill means that if he's in a unit of LG on an objective in the opponents deployment zone his unit is essentially worth 8 victory points all by their lonesome (1 for linebreaker, 1 for slay the warlord that you are denying, and a 6 point swing for the objective). That alone makes him good enough to consider over just about any other HQ. That's a pretty massive impact on any game.

Plus, since you are making him your Warlord, you can roll on the chart that has the most likely chances of have a positive impact ( the name escapes me, but the one that has the chance to give you FNP in the opponents deployment zone, as well as a handul of other decent results). Go balls deep with him, throw a res orb lord in the unit with MSS/SW/WS to take on challenges, ratchet the LG up as much as you can, and then drop that whole kit and caboodle on an objective and call it a day. Laugh historically as your opponent tries to shoot through 10 T5 3+/4++ RP 4+ FNP wounds (assuming you get a little lucky with the FNP Warlord trait). It's a might investment, but for a near guaranteed 8 Victory points? That's a pretty massive deal.

Try pairing the above up with a couple of bricks of Res Orbed Warriors to cap your own objectives, supported by maybe a GA or two. You really don't even need to kill anything, just camp the objectives and laugh as your opponent struggles to amass significant enough firepower .

... I would want to do this, just so I can laugh historically.

Fortress of Solitude

I find his main niche to be in a RC deathstar. Something that many points has to be scoring.

you just have to make sure you don't have any other generic Lords/Overlords/Crypteks anywhere else in your army, otherwise you could find your scoring 1000 point deathball gone, as Trazyn suddenly and randomly appears on the other side of the table attached to a unit of 5 Warriors.
