So, after many years and many failed attempts, I have decided to actually try and get myself into fantasy in a proper way. Having previously done Lizardmen and Chaos to no success, the madness and open scope of Skaven persuaded me to try a third time.

I got hold of the GD Skaven model a while ago, and spent a couple evening painting that up, if nothing else but to try and get a colour scheme I was happy with.

Base isn't done just yet, need to figure out something that I can replicate on a rat-army sized scale!

SO, once that was done, rather than go the sensible route, and, you know, paint some core units and things, I went and bought the Forge World Exalted Vermin Lord, because I LOVE this model, menacing and so very very Skaven-esque.

Decided to try and paint it similar to the skin tone of the Naked Mole rat, aka "Friggin' Ugly", with purple bruising and pink and red blotches all over the skin:

And here is where I am at so far:

Spines, Warpstone bits, loincloth, staff, and base to do, as well as any touchups and some bloodying, but pleased so far.

CnC folks!

Broken pic links. Try uploading your pics to the dakka gallery and linking from there. I'm intrigued to see the skin tones based on your description.

Nice painting. The GD skaven looks great and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished vermin lord.

Quick (blurry) snap of the warpstone work before I go to bed:

Hope to be done by midweek.
