Can I rerell the Illuminator Szeras upgrade roll w/ the Crytek w/ Chronoton? I really want a squas of 20 warriors w/ 5 Toughness or 5 BS. The +1 Strength is the only thing from stopping me from wanting to try Him.

When is that roll made? Is it before deployment or in a particular phase? Cryptek rerolls have to happen during a Player Turn phase.

At the start of the game before forces are deployed.

Cryptek just says a phase. So is there a phase at start of game? That is poorly defined.

There are phases as part of the turn. There are no other phases.

If I recall this was handled in an FAQ. As long as the Cryptek is part of the squad when the game starts then he can reroll, and so could the stormlord.

This is the only time Chrono's are mentioned in the FAQ:
Q: If an army contains Imotekh the Stormlord can a Cryptek with a
chronometron use it to re-roll the roll to see if the Night Fighting
special rule stays in efect? (p85)
A: Only if Imotekh is in the same unit as the Cryptek with the
chronometron.
Cannot find any mention of Szeras.

Again: phases do not exist out of a turn. You cannot reroll

If the Chronotek has not yet been deployed, then he cannot use his wargear.
