I have a friend who likes nothing better then picking up a rule book and arguing every point, its very annoying and he has turnt his attention to jink.
Hes arguing that not only can his skimmer move to the top of a bastian to get jink but also move round in a circle so basically technically it moved but didnt.
Is there something in the rule book that i can throw at him to shut him up or is he right??

Since its a skimmer, it can move to the top of a bastion, but it will have to take a dangerous terrain test.
As for pivoting and claiming a jink save, pivoting does not count as movement (pg 71 of the BRB) so no jink save just for pivoting.

He's right.
Vehicles can move in a circle or backwards and forwards and end in the same place they started. Skimmer can Jink if they do this.

Ah, I took "moving in a circle" as pivoting on the spot. My bad.

Note that the rules have changed for Jink this edition - he doesn't have to move to get the save.
If he wants the advanced save, he has to move Flat Out - while the circling thing still applies, it will affect his shooting, no way around that.

The point was that in the current rules you can just leave the vehicle where it is and state that it moved in a circle back to where it started and still claim the jink save.
This was expressly forbidden last edition.

I'd make the guy pick it up and move it in the circle

Ok, sure, just seemed odd he'd mentioned the "flying in a circle thing" working when Flat Out-ing

Yes, sorry - that was what I meant, I just worded it very poorly.

sorry but your memory is off. You could move forward 6.1" and then straight back and get cover in 5th but you would be autohit in combat.

youre playing with someone that tries to play the rules for his benefit, and apparently does it all the time from the sound of it?
He must be the only opponent you got. Rule sharking kinda turns into a TFG when you dont know the rules very well and you only stress them for your benefit.
Skimmers can go anywhere they can be physically placed, but they must take a dangerous terrain test whether they start or stop in said terrain. Even a crater, they take the test (which is weird...). Height of said terrain is not a factor far as i know, as i know Jump units can just leap up to the top of a building without having to do any funky math for distance.
As for the Jink, everyone else already hit it on the head. Just remember if he counts it as moving to get his jink, he is subject to weapon restrictions. Always awesome when someone moves a vehicle an inch or so and tries to fire 4 guns at normal BS when they werent a fast vehicle.

And everytime he moved in a circle on the bastion he would have to take a dangerous terrain test for beginning AND ending in dangerous terrain.

Not quite right, once you test for a piece of terrain you don't test again for it that phase.
Moving through multiple terrain would cause multiple tests, but only one per terrain piece.
But yes he'd have to test each phase.
