As far as tournaments/wysiwyg goes can I use chain swords as power swords and just paint them different? I just like the chainsword model better than the medevilish one. I'm pretty sure it's fine as long as I point it out I just wanted to make sure before I put the arms on.

I don't have a problem with it as long as the chain sword is glowing or clearly powered. Why couldn't you have an energized chain sword?

I did the same for one of my chaos champs. Though i did make sure to both give the sword more detail, and i painted unholy glowing runes on the sides. The trick is you need to be able to make out which is the power weapon from 3 feet away. If you can do that then awesome.

Paint the teeth blue and make sure its clearly stated o your army list, you should have no problem.

For tournaments specifically - check with the TO first. I'd have a replacement or magnetised arm to be on the safe side.

You could add a little greenstuf to make something that look like a energy spark, or a energy mist to it.

Power-chain-swords? Sign me up, this seems fine in my book, as long as it's obviously not a bog-standard chainsword.

The old 2nd ed space wolf codex had frost blades or power weapons in the art work that had chain teeth.

My chain sword has mono filament teeth! I would hope you wouldn't have a problem with well painted color schemes to differentiate the two. In other additions specific characters had power weapons that looked like regular CCW, such as Shiv from the last chancers.

Ragnar Blackmare has a large chainsword that counts as a frost blade. Also noted on Pg 59 of C:SW in the graphic.
