It'll be revealed tomorrow.

Here's hoping it's not an April Fool's joke...

Oshit.

Wary due to April 1st. But would they really toy with our emotions that much?

Damn them!

I'm wondering whether its a game or a film. Seeing as the film's gotten its director announced recently I'm erring towards that. Not that it would be a bad thing, but I do want another game for that series.

Frickin' love Deus Ex: subscribed.

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Increase the hub sizes/variety by a factor of 10, Add an incremental increase in depth to the mechanics, add emergent/procedurally generated scenarios (something like skyrim) and finally pace the game a bit better. That's all they need to do to make the (~) perfect game.

Oh and no bosses.

They went out of their way to trademark the name a month ago. Seems a bit over the top for an April fools. All it'd achieve would be annoying the fans. =P

I'd like to throw in a return to a customisable player character.

Seriously, I thought this was industry standard by now.

Good help me, it'll be another bite taken out of my life. I was one of those crackheads that beat the whole game and it's DLC without taking a single person's life. Effing go Human Revolution was so unbelievably good. Gameplay and graphics were amazing, but the story... man the story was soooo good.

Long as it goes with a story path or makes it so far into the future it doesn't really even matter. I mean characters you change have less of a written depth or at least in my opinion. My problem with open-ended games is that sometimes if there are small significant choices people can't go through all the multiple ridiculous choices you could've chosen in a 2nd game too easily. Sadly this means the supposed character of the previous game is mentioned in such an anonymous way that sex or looks can't be deciphered or even what they did and how it effected anything. They may as well hold a gun up to the player's character and say, "We don't f*cking talk about it ok." My problem with the choices is often said choices are never mentioned or shown again or they're given such a standard fits-all consequence that it feels as if your choice didn't matter.

Sorry i just had to rant.

What effect do appearance, clothing and gender have on "written depth"?

Choices made by another (or the same) character in a previous game is more tricky, but here I don't see why a sequel could not chronologically take place at the same time with different people on a different location. This (or a prequel) is the best way to circumvent the issue, I think.

I play games like Deus Ex for their atmosphere and the quality of their writing, not because I get off on something my character might've done in a different game. Of course that's just my stance on the topic, and I'm aware that quite a number of gamers wouldn't agree - I've seen enough comments bashing the announcement of the next ME game as being worthless because it doesn't have Shep. Guess I just can't get behind that way of feeling.

Bad news. It was a lame April Fool's lie they did on a copyright they registered a while back.

There was a tiny bit of suspicion from me, just because with Defiance out, I wasn't sure they'd be wanting to have a similar name as that / tv show.

But yup, I got gotten.
