It's my understanding that in 6th edition parenthesis toughness values on bikes are the toughness we use. Does that not include instant death. I hade my deffcoptas which are t4 but the (5) next to the entry. My opponent said that doesn't count for instant death. Is this true? If not can someone point me in the direction of the rule, I'm having trouble locating it.

It is in the FAQs (link in my sig), for each army.
Two Toughness Values
Where a model has two Toughness values presented on its
profile, one of which is presented in brackets, always use the
bracketed value. Ignore the other value entirely.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

To the OP: That is untrue, specifically the value listed in parantheses counts for all purposes now including instant death. Your opponent was sadly incorrect.

However he was correct in 5th, where the toughness bonus from bikes and the like did not count towards Instant Death. Hence the presentation of the multiple values in brackets.
But now we are in 6th, as many people are pointing out that no longer holds. The value in brackets is the Toughness value for all purposes now.

Are you asking about my "quote"? That one is directly out of the Ork FAQ, however, they all have it (or at least most of them do).

Yes I was asking about your quote. I like to have these things highlighted so the next time it occurs I can easily reference it for proof to my club mates. Thank you

@wowsmash:
Ork FAQ, First page, lower right corner.
However, as Happyjew said, pretty much ALL of the FAQs have it listed under a title of "Two Toughness Values" immediately after the Amendments statement. The only ones missing it are the 6E codexes which already covers that situation.
