I can sure use some input from this community – I'm looking to get some SM Scouts (namely BA), but I'm at a loss on how to paint them. I absolutely hate the "Red Plate with White Pants" look as depicted in 99% of BA pics. The only time I don't mind that look is on the old RT Era Scout models (who look like Replicant rejects)...and I'm not going to be fielding those blokes. I like that Scouts take forward positions and are infiltrators by nature, but I don't want to use a scheme that makes them look like IG Stormtroopers as opposed to being Blood Angels Scouts. Any thoughts/suggestions?

What about a red camo scheme?

Or go with the other typical BA secondary color: Black.

Perhaps Black plate/red cloth & markings

How are you basing the models? Try incorporating the base color into the scouts to help them blend in. If your bases have no reds, then add some earthy reds / rust colors to hint at a BA color scheme.

On Lexicanum, when talking about company colours on scouts, this is what it says:

"...the company colour is not displayed on their armour, because of their need to blend with their surroundings on reconnaissance missions."

So really you could paint them how you like, and then just find somewhere (like a shoulder pad or something) to incorporate some BA Iconography.

Remember this mantra; Camoflage=Good! White pants=Silly!

Hey thanks for all the responses! You given me plenty to consider. I didn't know about the blurb on Lexicanum, that really opens up some ideas. I may try a combination of all suggestions: heavy urban ruin basing, lifting some of those colors (in an urban camo like scheme with rusts and deep dark reds for a hint of the chapter). My original thought was to almost do a night dark scheme (black armor on dark grey fatigues, with only greens on lenses and a tiny blood drop icon somewhere just to signify BA).
