So I've been on the fence as to what faction to start with and after taking into consideration the rest of the play group and what they have selected already, I've decided on CA.

One thing I have noticed...once you get past the basic troopers, these things rack up the points quickly!

I'm going to start with the basic starter box rather than the sectorial one just to maintain options and because the Morat are a bit cheeper than the Seed-dudes.

Even with that, I'm wondering if there is an order number I should be targeting? At 300 points I'm hitting 8 and 9, but 10 seems damn near out of reach and still having a fair bit of options.

That's actually good for CA. You are right about the points racking up quick. I agree about the Seed Soldiers too. Morats are actually better. I don't know them as well though. If you want to know how to use the Shasvastii you can look here. They do have some great weapons and abilities that make them high on points.

Here is my first stab at 300, attempting to use as much of the starter box coupled with models I like.

Morat - Combi
Morat - paramedic
Morat - combi+grenade launcher
Noctifier - spitfire
Zerat - sniper
Suryat - HMG
Rasyat - Combi
Daturazi - Chain
Charontid - Plasma, Lt.

Went with the Charontid Lt. due to no SWC cost. Could go with the Noctifier instead. Have I screwed up something horribly here? Looks like I am hitting at 299 points.

It looks pretty good to me. The Charontid is good as a Lt. because even if he is killed you have Mnemonica which allows you to immediately nominate a new Lt. Even so the Morats have Religious too.

310 Points | SWC: 6

ARMY CODE: Army Infinity v.3.0.

But overall i quite like it, you have a good mix, just a shame about those last 10 points (which i may be wrong about as im not sure how up to date the Army Builder is at the moment...)

Interesting. The phone app infinity army builder has the Suryat HMG at 47 points, not 58. That's probably where it is at.

Back to the batcave it is! I would guess the medic and grenadier Morats drop down to basic combi troopers. That would free up the 10 points.

Suryats had their points dropped in the Campaign Paradiso book so the lower point cost is correct. Its just not been updated yet on the devil team army builder.

I know this is a common mantra on the forums, but I strongly recommend that you start with a list that's 150 points or less if you're just starting out. This is a very rule-intensive game, and it's always best to get the fundamentals down before dealing with all the extra special rules that units in a 300-pt list will bring. Start with some line troops, a HI, and maybe a sniper or skirmisher and get a few games under your belt before jumping into higher point games...you'll be thankful you did.

Less QQ, more pew pew!
