So I recently found myself in possession of several dozen space marine and terminator models from a bits box I bought online. Thinking of running them as a small "renegade Mercenary Marines" force to use as allies. There will also be Dark Eldar, IG and perhaps Ork models mixed in with the unit, making it a bit of a "Rogue Trader" group rather than a dedicated Marine unit.

Just wondering which codex would best fit such a detachment? I don't know anything at all about Space Marines or really any codex but Orks so I hoped you guys could give a little advice. I don't want any daemonic stuff in the army, though I could fluff away stuff like a Mark of Khorne or Slaneesh by just saying its part of their badass-ness.

I can equip them with almost anything, I have pistols/CCW galore, as well as a whole bunch of heavy and plasma weapons, and power fists. I can field at least three heroes consisting of a chaplain, some terminator hero, and some marine hero w/ power fist and a cape, though they can 'counts as' whatever.

Marines aren't necessarily the only option. Anything with marine-like stats in order to fit the fluff works too. Necrons? Sure. Nobz and a Warboss? I run Orks but if I can take an Ork allies detachment then hells yes. Eldar Aspect Warriors? Damn right.

Even better if it can fill the holes in the Ork Force - long ranged anti-tank, and anti-marine shooting or to a lesser extent melee come to mind.

About the only Codex I can think of to mix the two (Marines and "others") is Black Templars, where you have initiates and neophytes. You'd have to fluff away the vows and so forth as veteran skills, or something.
However, Chaos Space Marines has cultist units if you can split the IG/Orks etc into separate units.
