Ok, so if I understand correctly, warlocks are considered characters as they can be a character upgrade for guardian squads.

What I'm curious about, however, is if they still count as characters if you take a unit of warlocks. For instance, if you have a farseer with a unit of warlocks and someone issues a challenge, can you accept that challenge with one of the warlocks in the unit?

Look in the back of the BRB, if the entry for Warlocks ends with In(ch) then they are always characters, if it lists Warlocks twice and one is In the other is In(ch) then it depends on how you purchase them

Since I don't have my BRB I'm 99% that they're always characters and you can issue and accept challenges with any of them

Thanks for the tip. Found it, and they are all characters for the record.

The FAQs don't mention a correction to them either, unlike units like Wolfguard and Nobz. It might be an oversight as I can't see how it's intended to have a full unit of Characters.

Well, took up to the 6th edition FAQ to make Banshee Masks work against terrain again after 4th... maybe Warlocks will be corrected for 8th Edition?

They appear to remain Characters while in a Seer council, unlike Paladins, Nobs, and WG that got FAQd to only be characters while leading a seperate squad.

99.9% likely that its an oversight, but till GW speaks nothing changes.

Just beware Chaos, you'd be giving them Boons out the wazoo.

Yeah, there are definitely situations where it wouldn't be advantageous, but it also makes them an ideal unit for protecting ICs from unwanted challenges.

Is Doom of Malantai a Character? He isn't in the back of the Rulebook and he hasn't been FAQ'ed

1) No special characters are in the back of the book
2) All SCs / Unique units are characters
