Hello! I'm in the possession of a few Ork models and was looking to start a playable army with them. What I've got, more or less, is the content of two black reach sets, a single truck, a rhino that I've already begun looting (probably also going to be used as a truck), and an old dark eldar raider that's probably going to be turned into yet another truck. I also have a junked land raider and some speeders that can likely be looted with a bit of work, and a giant pile of imperial bits that can be used in the looting process. I'm pretty handy with plastic and putty, so the sky is the limit on conversions and whatnot. Except for the truck and looted rhino nothing is assembled yet, so I can be flexible within limits. Here's what I came up with so far.

Basic Starter (Orks)
HQ - 155
Warboss (155)
power klaw; shoota; warbike; attack squig; cybork body; bosspole.

Elites - 75
5 Lootas (75)

Troops - 770
10 'Ard Boyz (175)
Nob (power klaw; bosspole).
Trukk

10 Ork Boyz (135)
Nob (power klaw; bosspole); shootas.
Trukk

10 Ork Boyz (135)
Nob (power klaw; bosspole); shootas.
Trukk

5 Big Boss's Nobz (325)
Painboy; 3× choppa; big choppa; power klaw; 3× slugga; 2× shoota; Waaagh! banner; warbikes; cybork bodies.

The general plan is to have he lootas, converted from regular boys, take out light vehicles and flyers. Rapid advance with boys and biker kommand mob into cc, take out all infantry with weight of dice, use the klaws to flip harder wagons. Seems decent for what I have available, my biggest question would be how to load everything up, what they need to be equipped with and whatnot. How am I looking?

I'd loose 1 nob biker, the 'eavy armour on the 'ard boys and the shootas on the nobs and warboss. +105pts I think.
Then get 5 more lootas, and 2 more boys for each squad of trukkers (one will have to be a 11 squad though). -105pts

If your attack is going too well, you have walked into an ambush

The shootas have no cost sice they're not kombiweapons, doesn't matter what heir shooting weapons are anyways since the dakkaguns on the bikes are better anyways. Only other thing is that while I can convert stuff easy enough, I can't really buy anything new. That means that however I equip them or model them, that's 40 boyz models, so having 10 lootas would make me have a maximum of 30 boyz (maybe 11 if you count the nob). I definitely could drop the 'ard boyz for regular boyz though, would save me a few points.

EDIT: Two squads of five lootas or one squad of ten?

The eavy armore is pretty hit and miss.About the only thing that it will help with is when the truck gets popped.I suppose it can also be nice in CC though.So if you are gonna have ard boys I would just make them slugga/choppa for the extra swing on CC.Other than that though theres just too many sources of AP4+ shooting out there now.

Im not a fan of powerclaw nobs on everything.At 1k points I sometimes just have a PK boss and thats it.Rem a Big Choppa assaulting a vehicle will pen their rear on a 4 up and with a nob getting 4 attacks on the charge the chances are pretty good you are gonna put the hurt on the vehicle.On that note you may want to consider a Boarding plank on one of your trucks.

As for the lootas I would probably do 2 groups of 5..being since they are your only foot troopies I think you would find them getting focused down rather quickly with all 10 in the same group of ruins/rough.Plus in a group of 5 they will need to loose 2 to force moral so that means you would need to loose 4 before both groups would have to check.Were is a singel group of 10 would only have to loose 3 to force the check.
And both formations can always hit the dirt if needed.
