Ive been experimenting with my 1850 GK list and here is what Im working with so far. Looking for any pointers or critiques.

HQ:
Grand Master (Rad Grenades)

Troops:
Strike Squad (2 Hammers, 6 Halberds, 2 Psycannons, Psybolt Ammo)
Rhino
Strike Squad (2 Hammers, 6 Halberds, 2 Psycannons, Psybolt Ammo)
Rhino

Elites:
Purifiers (7 Halberds, 2 Psycannons)
Rhino (Searchlight)
Techmarine (Psycotrope Grenades, Rad Grenades, 2x Servo Skulls, Halberd, Stormbolter)
Paladins (1 Hammer, 4 Halberds, 1 Psycannon)

Heavy Support:
Deadnought (2x Twinlinked Autocannon, Psybolt Ammo)
Deadnought (2x Twinlinked Autocannon, Psybolt Ammo)

Plan is to have the techmarine ride with the Purifier Squad in a rhino as my main combat unit while the Strike Squads grab objectives, they will either stay as 10 or combat squad up depending of number of objectives and mission types. Ill keep the GM with the pallys in reserve and deepstrike them in where needed.
I understand kitting out the strike squads with CC weapons is not optimal but Ive already built them all this way before I had very much experience with the game at all so Id rather not have to scrap everything Ive already built.

If you want to keep them with halberds as you already modelled them that way, you could go with Castellan Crowe and use them as Purifiers Troops, they cost roughly the same points but are much better

That would of course necessitate to remove the Grand Master, but I'm sure the paladins can handle themselves without his presence

I don't know which models you have but I always used to run Coteaz in a purgation squad w. 4 psycannons. He'd roll on divination and whichever power you got (with the exception of the 6th one, which is always to be swapped for primaris), he'd be amazing!
Primaris- 16 S7 AP4 Rending BS4 with rerolls to hit :O
1- same number of shots at BS4 on overwatch :O
2- 4+ invuln. on a unit within 24"- useful as hell.
3- make an enemy unit reroll saves... ERMAHGERD this is too good to be true against TEQ/MEQ lists.
4- ignores cover when combined with astral aim..? Yes, please
5- coteaz rerolls everything, pretty much. Parked in a ruin he has a 2+ save with a re roll, and a 4+ cover, with a reroll, and 3 wounds. Just make sure he's at the front of the unit with this one!

^^ obviously some of these go better in combos.

I'd run one or two units of that (inquisitor with force sword & power armour for squad no. 2, and a conversion beamer if you must :L) and then some henchmen (DCA, crusaders) with some paladins and strike squads as back up...

Then laugh as you kill anything and everything.

Also take a bastion

Note to the reader: my username is not arrogance. No, my name is taken from the most excellent of commanders: Lord Castellan Creed, of the Imperial Guar- I mean Astra Militarum - who has a special rule known only as "Tactical Genius"... Although nowhere near as awesome as before, it now allows some cool stuff for the Guar- Astra Militarum - player. FEAR ME AND MY TWO WARLORD TRAITS.

I have to agree, dropping the GM for Crowe and making all of your strikes purifiers is just way better to utilize the points. 25pts for a halberd striker, 26pts for a halberd purifier, so +1 point for fearless, cleansing flame and +1 attack. Um, yes please. You also save 40 points in the HQ department. Sure, no rads but whatever... you don't need them. More pewpew, less chopchop in this edition brother. Purifiers also get you 4x psycannons per squad. Ditch the rhinos or reduce the numbers and hide the 1 you're still taking and you just might not give up first blood.

I need to return some video tapes.

The other options with Purifiers is that they still work well in units that are below 10 dudes.

5-7 purifiers with 2 psycannons/ halberds are great as they can still shoot the 2 psycanons out of the top of a rhino and have room for an inquisitor to join them so they can get a divination re-roll to hit.

If purifiers and Crowe are not your thing, then you must drop the halberds and hammers on your Strike squads.

The replace the Techmarine with an Inquisitor (maybe coteaz). less points. Re-roll to hit in the shooting and assault phase is way better than Rad Grenades. A Bolstered ruin is okay, but it will not always be on the table for you to use. O take a Xeno inquisitor and get Rad grenades and a re-roll to hit, and still be less points than the techie.

Lastly, your paladin unit needs 2 psycannons.
