I have played the second list and enjoyed it but I am trying to branch out and want to get some input on each. They both have pros and cons and regardless should be fun to play. I normally play at a local scene so it is a more semi-casual setting.

Deathwing 1500 Point - Dreadnought Variant

Belial (Terminator Armor, Storm Bolter, Sword of Silence) – 190 {Attached to the 10 Man Deathwing Unit Being Deployed With Plasma Cannons}

10 Deathwing Terminators (Deathwing Terminator Sergeant with Power Sword & Storm Bolter, 9 Deathwing Terminators, 2 Plasma Cannons) – 470 {Deployed Using Deathwing Assault}
5 Deathwing Terminators (Deathwing Terminator Sergeant with Thunderhammer & Storm Shield, 4 Deathwing Terminators, Cyclone Missile Launcher) – 250
5 Deathwing Terminators (Deathwing Terminator Sergeant with Thunderhammer & Storm Shield, 4 Deathwing Terminators, Cyclone Missile Launcher) – 250

Deathwing Dreadnought (Venerable, Multi-Melta, Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon with Heavy Flamer, Drop Pod) – 170
Deathwing Dreadnought (Venerable, Multi-Melta, Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon with Heavy Flamer, Drop Pod) – 170

= 1500

With this Variant I am using the Reserve Rules ... until they FAQ the fine points of Deathwing Assault I am just going to go by them, I could Deathwing Assault one more unit of Terminators. But waking up two squads of CML squad from the deployment zone isn't the worst thing in the world.

With the MM/DCCW Dreads in Drop Pods it gives the army some solid anti mech and 20 terminators (10 nonscatter deep striking with Belial and 2 plasma cannons ... good luck killing my warlord) the list should pack a punch.

Deathwing 1500 Point - Feel No Pain Terminator Variant

Belial (Terminator Armor, Storm Bolter & Sword of Silence) – 190 {Attached to the 10 Man Deathwing Unit with Plasma Cannons}
Deathwing Command Squad (5 Deathwing Terminators, Thunder Hammer & Storm Shield, Standard of Fortitude, Cyclone Missile Launcher) – 335

10 Deathwing Terminators (Deathwing Terminator Sergeant with Power Sword & Storm Bolter, 9 Deathwing Terminators, Chain Fist, 2 Plasma Cannon) – 475 {Deployed Using Deathwing Assault}
5 Deathwing Terminators (Deathwing Terminator Sergeant with Thunder Hammer & Storm Shield, 4 Deathwing Terminators, Cyclone Missile Launcher) – 250
5 Deathwing Terminators (1 Deathwing Terminator Sergeant with Thunder Hammer & Storm Shield, 4 Deathwing Terminators, Cyclone Missile Launcher) – 250

= 1500

This List swaps the Dreads out for a Command Squad with Banner of Fortitude ... the issue I am having is that using the reserve rules (don't want to have anyone qq at the local scene so until they FAQ it, I am just going to play it that way). With 5 Units I can deep strike two ... which comes up to Belial and his 10 man squad leaving the feel no pain banner walking with the rest .... I have played this list and it worked well for me to phalanx up and deathwing assault belial and the 10 man inside the banner radius and get the most out of the twin-linked.

I currently do not own any ravenwing but have 45 tactical marines, a company master with combi-plasma (power armor), and 3 librarians (2 power armored, 1 terminator). So Greenwing could be an option.

Thoughts on the better list between the two - or any changes that could be made to the lists to make them more effective?

Thanks Everyone.

If you are going by standard reserves rules, with 5 units you could reserve 3. The reserves rules state half rounded-up. Half of 5 is 2.5, rounded up is 3.

Both lists look decent, I guess it would depend on your local meta. If you are seeing alot of tanks, go with the Dreads. If there are more light vehicles and infantry, the FNP banner squad would be a big help.

Now go ahead and take that out of context to make me look like a fool.

thought it was rounded down for some reason ... thats good to know, on the second list i'll start deathwing assaulting the command squad and the 10 man with Belial.

Thanks

Any other feedback?

I would hate to fight your list. Does your list ever lose to Chaos space marines, if so can you tell me about it. If not, then which army are you having a hard time facing?

I swapped from Space Wolves to Deathwing when the new codex hit.

My normal matchups can be

multiple orcs, nids, dark eldar, eldar, tau, blood angels

Dark Eldar has been the only real army that I have struggled against and I have yet to play them with Deathwing ... mainly due to the amount of high AP shots and mobility (venom spam), orcs and nids are always good matchups.

Looking foward to playing againist the new tau stuff though.

No chaos matchups unfortunately = (
