I'm playing Cryx in a journeyman league and I've just started playing the game.. its pretty fun.

From my understanding my battle box is 14 points
pDenny
Slayer
Defiler
Deathripper
Deathripper

So in week 2 I have to go to 15 points gives me two options
Machine Wraith
Necrotech
Add nothing for week 3
There is lots of Horde playing right now but that being said the machine wraith is still tempting I believe I can use it to hang around with my slayer and block charging lanes, and against other Warmachien armies (Lots of Khador and Retribution) I can tie up thier jacks.

Week 3 has me at 25 points with Battle Box
My options are: (Because these are the models I want )

Max Bane Thralls + UA (For this i must forgo adding units in week 2)
Min Bane Thralls + UA + Machine Wraith + Skarlock Thrall
Min Bane Thralls + BLT + Skarlock
Min Bane Thralls + BLT + Machine Wraith + Necrotect/Machine Wraith

Obviously you can see I want some Bane Thralls (These were the models that attracted me to the army)

So what do you guys think? Or maybe even an option I hadn't considered.

Week 4 I get to change out my warcaster ... any suggestions on a different war caster that would work with the above list? Or should I stick with pDenny?

Lastly for 35 points when I'm allowed to replace any unit I'm thinking of removing the Slayer and putting in a Seether. And from there its up in the air I'm not sure what to do.

I havn't played cryx in forever but Bain Thralls or Bain Knights with Tarterous are just nasty, more so if your opponent cant deal with stealth.

As for other casters at 35 pts. pGaspy would work well and eGaspy even more so (but you wont make many friends running him).

Thanks for the suggestions, the units you mentioned are what I'm thinking of buying next actually.

As well as I'm thinking I want to use Gaspy I love the models of him and I love the idea of walking in and killing something and teleporting away.... I get that Gaspy is supposed to be used similarly to pDenny (Stay back and cast) but at least he has a way to get in the mix and then run away

pGaspy shouldnt be that close to the front (but his feat is awesome for assassination if your opponent gives him the opportunity).

I've seen pGaspy use TK as a great way to split up his forces and jump from side to side on the board that needs support for that turn.

I know but I want the option to have him run up lay some hurt and run away

I don't always want to play the 10" away debuff guy

warning: all that follows is based on my 1st edition experience. never played it in MkII. yet.

Asphyxious is awesome. carefully played it can win games you already considered lost. I've managed to kill opponent caster while Asphyxious alone was left in my army, while opponent had lots of his stuff. The fact that the dead caster was Caine played by the most damned protective player around here just added sweetness to an already sweet victory.

I've done more reading on our casters and I'm thinking eGaspy is the way to go... his self buff will protect him when he's closer to the front lines, his talent can be pretty awesome with lots of small / medium based guys summon back and still has some fun / hard hitting spells.
