My
FLGS is running a small 2k-aside doubles tournament.
Quite simply put, they've allowed the idea of using the Ally Matrix to enter their head.
Hello Tournamentites, Do to mis-communications some Players have been informed that you may ally with your own codex.
As a correction; You may only Ally Tyranids with Tyranids. You may not for example ally Orks with Orks however.
You must still both have a Primary Detachment each. No additional allies or fortifications.
If this affects you feel free to resubmit your list with no penalty.
If you change your mind about attending due to this please come in and let us know so we can get you a full refund.
So, this means, at least to me:
- Tyranids can't play
- Anything not imperial has almost no choices
- Anything not dark eldar/eldar, necron or possibly ork can't really compete.
- Two friends who play the same army cannot play together.
- Two friends who play different armies can't play together.
- Armies that rely on fortifications to protect the air are going to lose.
- Tyranid players are completely ostracised.
Did I mention that Tyranid players are COMPLETELY excluded?
Well, no. They add in this little clause that says that tyranid players can play with other tyranid players.
But this is a doubles tournament. You play a doubles tournament with a friend, not a stranger, especially a competitive tournament.
Now, I don't know about other Metas, but I know for a fact that there are almost no real tyranid players in my area. There cam a resurgence with biospam, but there is not more than one player per 'group'.
so, really, tyarnids cannot play.
Does anyone think it's ever a good idea to use the ally matrix for a doubles tournament?
