Ok so I'm going to be picking up this lady soon and want to get some things straight.

Her quite respectable stats, including MAT 8, DEF 17 and ARM 15

She seems to be quite a beast, as dodgy as eCaine but with heavier armour, respectable accuracy both in melee and at range, and gunfighter and a P+S 11 weapon master sword (so with boosted damage that is 25 damage, that'll even dent jacks that aren't those Khadoran bricks/buffed up centurions). 14 damage does mean I don't want to ever leave her hanging in the wind, more so than some other casters.

her manouverability

Parry and Spd 6, as well as Quicken or Admonition, can keep her moving around the battlefield safely and quite quickly. She almost seems like she'd be alright at assassinations on some of the less heavily armoured casters (so not the butchers/pstryker with feat up/those sorts of ones), SPD8 and no free strikes means she can weave her way through a bit of traffic/charge straight through a narrow gap.

her spell list

Admonition seems like it'll help keep her alive from any incredibly fast jacks/solos (apart from those with jump, they could advance, end close by, then jump 5" and still get her), distraction seems a bit less useful since she has to be so close to cast it, could be useful with an arc node, flashing blade, quicken, gallows (through an arc node) and twister all seem like they'll be useful as well. Maybe not twister too often, but hey.

her feat

I like it, increases the survivability/hitting power of the army simultaneously, but I'm a bit unsure about some things, so it affects both enemy and friendly models, and during both you and your opponent's turn?

units which I would like to use with her

Devil Dogs, ATGM with UA, Blythe & Bull, Nyss Hunters and Precursor Knights with UA. These are just the merc units I like best with her, unsure on their real use with her.

warjacks which I want to use with her

Nomad, Mule, Mangler and Rover all seem useful, even the Vanguard might be useful for shield guard

the model

I like the model well enough, but I'll definitely be trying to convert her to the art in the Mercs book because I reckon that it'll look amazing

So yeah, please tell me all the things I missed

Ashlynn was my first merc caster shes alot of fun.

So a few notes on what you have.

Her stats. shes hard to hit at range, and she has many ways to get around. Now, this makes her far from a front line caster.

Its easy to knock models down with slams, achieve this on her and she dies fast. Keep her on her feat.. and she can take alot of attacks with def 17.

Her Feat.. It effects both armies in her control. biggest issue.. you have many enemy models within 12" of her when using it if your trying to get them to miss.

As you can tell, high defence units are good with her.

Units you would like to use.

ATGM+UA is almost a staple unit with her to me.. They marshal a Mule. (16" Range is amazing on a AOE 4 crit Dev) on feat turn it rolls 5d6 to hit and you choose 3.. High chance of critting. I have even ran 2x Marshalled Mules with them.

Halb shield and Forge Guard are also very nice.
Forge guard she gives +2spd,, and Crit smite on her feat turn.

Warjacks.. Nothing gets better then the Mule.

I would avoid the Mangler and Rover, she doesnt have the focus to support them

Look at the Gallant from Cygnar Def 13 jack + her feat makes other heavies miss. Or Rocinante to help keep her safe.

As for the model.. If you can get the Limited Edition Ashlynn that was out last year... its an amazing model, i love mine.

Misc Units to use with her.
Sylys is almost an Auto include for Focus issues on her.

Harlen Versh for Gallent. Extra focus is always good.

Nyss Hunters, very fast and high defence.

Just a correction, it's not a limited edition model, it's a webstore-only one, so there shouldn't be any problems buying it: http://store.privateerpress.com/altashlynn.aspx And yes, it's far superior to the original, though fixing that flag is just as much of a pain as it looks.

Pretty much all the advice above is good. Forge Guard are probably the best Merc melee troops around, and have really good synergy with Ashlynn, between Quicken and her feat. I'd recommend them over the Precursor Knights, because they can run and still have ARM 18, and have their bonus damage dice all the time, rather than just one round. Nyss Hunters are also a good target for Quicken, as it makes them nearly impossible to kill with non-blast guns, and being able to run 18", or have a threat range of 21" with their bows is amazing.

In terms of solos, taking Lanyssa Rysyll can be good for extending threat range even more with Hunter's Mark. Thor Steinhammer with a pair of Blasters can be a quite amazing infantry clearer on feat turn, if you can get them into a good spray position.

One other thing is, her melee skills are nice, but don't get over-eager and put her in the front line, or a canny opponent will slam something into her and then kill her. Remember she has a gun. Boosted power 12's (two of you have Reinholdt) can snipe out solos, or frighten low-ARM warlocks and warcasters.

"The 75mm gun is firing. The 37mm gun is firing, but is traversed round the wrong way. The Browning is jammed. I am saying "Driver, advance." and the driver, who can't hear me, is reversing. And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich."

I'm probably going to go with the regular ashlynn sculpt for my conversion, it seems the closest to what I want her to end up as, and the skirt is easy to fix up.

Is what I'll be going for, so yeah. I'm keen to get working on her, just have to save a bit more.

So in regards to lists, how would, at 25 points;

Ash
Nomad
Reinholdt
ATGM w UA
Mule
Max Forgeguard

That list would be a good start at 25pts.

You have ATGM+ Mule to deal with Infantry.
Forge Guard + Nomad to deal with heavies.

Its a nice balance
