If not, what rule stops you from being able to do it? It's not a blast weapon like other grenades. It has a normal assault profile.

There is NO SUCH THING as MORE ADVANCED in 40k!!! There are ONLY 2 LEVELS of RULES: Basic and Advanced. THE END. Stop saying "More Advanced". That is not a recognized thing in modern 40k!!!!

You can throw one from inside a vehicle in the same way, and with the same restrictions, as firing any other weapon from inside a vehicle.

Cool, that's what I thought. Can a haywire grenade be thrown as a snap shot, since it's not a blast weapon?

Is a non blast weapon prohibited to fire as a snap shot?
If not then you can fire it as a snap shot.

It seems you're getting the rules for firing from vehicles and Snap Shots confused. Split the two to sort this out.
First, check if your embarked unit can fire as per page 78 - and whether they must Snap Shot to do so. If they can fire normally, treat it like any other shooting attack (so using templates, blasts, whatever else).
If you must Snap Shot, check page 13 for that - and that's where blasts and templates matter.
