For anyone with the CSM codex, I was wondering what the champion of chaos rule was int eded the way I see it. I don't have my codex with me, but doesn't it say any character with this rule must declare a challenge. This came up against daemons. I charged Fateweaver with my squad of 5 KBs and Champ with sword. Does this mean most of the KBs aren't hitting or what. I know the refolls thing for 5 models, but is this the way that the rule would work? If so, it seems crappy IMHO.

Yes, that is the way the rule works Not sure there is any question there.
It
s a downside of chaos being glory hunters when leading squads. Always hoping for a daemonhood roll.

Chaos champions must always accept and declare challenges. Simple as that.
Of course, if there are mulitple models with this rule, then the controlling player has final decision on who accepts.
Of course, fateweaver is WS1, so i imagine you beat him.... XD

Yeah it seems so but the fact that the rest of your unit is safe AND you can get a roll on the CBT it seems reasonable...

Yeah but now that berserkers were taken down to 1 attack and given rage, it really takes the sting out of a charge.
Put your champions in front to soak overwatch or a bullet to the head early on if you want to avoid that!

Yes, unfortunately. This adds more merit to champion-less squads of demons, and also to ridiculous MC lists. Just messing around the other day, I put a list together that included:
Skarbrand
Skeiros Fateweaver
3 Demon Princes(With every upgrade - 2 of Khorne, 1 of Tzeentch)
2 Units of Pink horrors
3 Units of Chaos furies
Ended up being 54 models at 1847 pts. Chaos furies are deceptively awesome in this version. People see the 2 LD and get afraid, forgetting that chaos furies are immune to the most common things that would call for that leadership test. And as dirt cheap as they are, it allows you to use them as meat walls to protect your scoring units while your 5 rediculous MCs proceed to chew through the enemy in CC.

There is NO SUCH THING as MORE ADVANCED in 40k!!! There are ONLY 2 LEVELS of RULES: Basic and Advanced. THE END. Stop saying "More Advanced". That is not a recognized thing in modern 40k!!!!

Daemons don't have champion of chaos. Also many daemon sergeants will devour those of the other races with a +1 S, ap2 weapon at initiative.
