So, recently purchased a bunch of the hexagon terrain sets from pegasus hobbies, having fun using them for Necromunda, but, its the visual look thats starting to bug me a little.
The generic dark grey of the plastic isnt quite the best for conveying "urban", so time to bust out the paints, but...I'm looking for a metallic spray just to put over a black undercoat, nothing strong, just to highlight certain parts and give it a "sheen". I'd considered a watered down metallic paint spread across it, but thats really really time consuming and i'm kinda lazy, same with a wash. A spray though, all I really have to do is just lay the sections out, spray from an extended distance to get the soft "frosting".
Just..I'm unsure of what spray to use, if there is a good one for it, if anyone has any recommendations, or even alternatives?

For something like that, you might have better luck with one of the metallic cream/paste type paints. Craft stores sell them, and you apply them with a sponge...wipe off with a clean sponge.
It leaves paint behind on textured surfaces. A while back I used it on a bit of terrain that was meant to be a gold mine and wanted to have veins of gold throughout it. Worked pretty well and went on fast. Think it was $5 or so for a small tub and I stillhave about half of it left.

Hrm, I'll have to give them a look. I had been looking at the weathering sprays from modelmates, but alas, cant find anything metallic enough, though their rust looks pretty neat.
But thne while looking at those, I stumbled across pigments from MIG Productions that sounded pretty good, but I cant seem to find anything demonstratory on them such as a video, which makes me hesitant for all their awesome sounding names.

If using an airbrush Vallejo model air has a black metallic. Sadly I can not tell you more because my set is on back order.
Edit one: I have used model air grey primer, white, and black. All three are amazing products, and I honestly can not wait to try the rest.

Well, though I dont currently own an airbrush, and hadn't intended on getting one for awhile yet...you've now got me browsing for a cheap one. A few of those model air colours are just what I'd had in mind for certain segments, like the tower I built that nobody else is allowed to touch or put their models near...I'm rather fond of it, if you try to take it from me in Necromunda, I will take out the ground level supports and make it topple with you inside.
Even as I have google open in another tab browsing for a start at a budget beginner airbrush, the ideas are already building for those metallics and my precious tower of love.

I can take out a sprue and prime it then use brushes with the model air and let you know how they stroke if you wish.

Well, that probably would be a better idea than my "oh my, metallic shades, tower of love? oh yes", since it'd give a more accurate display than my imagination does. My wallet may end up hating on you a little though...the temptations!

I wouldnt say you've forced it...just strongly tempted it to reach for my credit card. I do love my tower. Black base, go over with some of their metallic aluminium, thin layer of something a little darker over the top, bit of rust, bit of chrome, then down o brush work for the finer details...dedicated to you.

If you call it tower of love... i am not to sure about that dedication.
I just primed a spru ill let it try show you one layer two layers and three layers with no thinning.
Post a picture of the tower man! i am not familiar with necromunda. Ive seen figures from other hobbyist at the local store and they explained it, but i have to see the tower, the way you explain it it might be one of the seven wonders of the necromunda galexy.

These are beautiful for Necromunda IMO, as a) mmm modular, b) great value, c) awesome terrain for Necro due to A and B, but d) ya never sure if ya quite finished...
I'd love to post a pic of it though, I spent quite awhile using two of the small ones and a large one just for the one tower, my camera is sadly just over five thousand miles away though, left it at my fiance's parents house over the holidays, only remembered on the plane back.
I may have gotten carried away, but its twelve stories of too much free time, hence alternatives to brushing, heh.
I just need to make it "pop", I want to be able to bury it in the middle of an Apoc sized complex, and have it there, a shining beacon of false hope...

That would be a lot of brush work. I will have to put my pictures on hold as the lady just rushed me out of the house. I will put them up when I get home and update my blog

Well I'm certainly interested in the results, thats for sure. Especially with a new Delaque gang to take it over and make it their home.
